    Three cheers for JVC's Marshmellows!!

You just cut off the wax guard thing? Did you stick foam inside there or not? I cut out that paper filter and couldn't listen to them, way to harsh. But with foam inside it calms it down a little without sacrificing the newly acquired highs

    Stuff like Isis?

Hey, i've just started fully listening to Isis albums (oceanic, panopticon, IAOT), and was wondering what other bands have the same huge, atmospheric, and crunchy sound that is still at the same time soothing. The only other band i have right now that sounds kinda similar is Katatonia. Thanks

    Audio Technica A700 vs A900

LOL Hku! That sucks man, exactly what happened to me. I got my ad700s on friday so i they were closed until monday. An extra week waiting for me. Did you buy them from Full compass systems by any chance?

    Just bought the JVC MARSHMALLOW

Yep, you can try kramermodding them and putting on new tips to open them up a bit and calm down the bass. Vibe tips fit perfectly on them and make them 2x more comfortable.

Audio Technica A700's not good for music?

Well, for music, they definitely stomp all over the hd280s i had. There arent that many closed fones for 150. dt770 have super amount of bass. I think the hd-25s are recommended for closed cans around that price. They can be used portably too.

    Closed metal headphone recommendations?

The a700s are excellent for metal. Their mids are a teensy bit recessed, but not to the degree of the dt770s. (nothing a little eq can't fix)

Anyone else think the vibes are overrated?

Yep, I thought they would be worlds better than my marshmallows until the shrill highs came in and raped my ear canal

Beyer DT770s are rubbish and I have a tiny head!

If you dont want to spend the moola for the a900s, just get the a700s. Their actually imported to the US and can be bought for cheap from amazon vendors. I heard they sound nearly the same as a900s.

    Sub $70 IEM's

I used to think the marshmallows were a little too bass heavy for rock, but with the kramer mod and vibes soft flex tips their not as muddy. However, their still a fun and bassy fone.

    Need advice on closed phone

Aren't the darth beyers known for being bass monsters? I would think they would have too much bass for classical.

Audio Technica A500 or Sony MDR-V6 (velour)

I dont think the pleather on the closed audio technicas are that bad. I had the ad700 velours and they are only slightly cooler. Where can you buy ad velour pads?

Impressions of the shuffle (1st gen)

SWEET! Similar thing happened with me yesterday. I was at this guys house and saw that he had a scratched to hell 1st gen shuffle. I asked if he used it alot and he said he didn't use it at all and that it was broken. He let me have it when I asked later on . Anyways, when I plug a headphone all...

    a700 or a900

I ordered the a700s since i heard there is not much difference between a500 to a900, so the a700-900 gap should be even smaller. Mine were from an amazon vendor for 116 shipped. A900s cost 179 plus shipping. look at this thread http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...a700+review%22 Later on...

    JVC FX33 Mod.

Holy crap, this really makes a big difference! Before i couldn't stand listening to any fast metal with these since it would become a big, slow, muddy mess. Now it's tolerable, pretty good actually. I can't wait to change out my tips with e2c foams or something.

    closed cans recommendations!

Actually, i think the a500/700 are more comfortable than the a900s. The a900s are heavier due to aluminum earcups and weigh down on your head more. One main problem (on both phones actually but worse on the dt770) is recessed mids. If your all about the bass then go for dt770s. A700 provide a...

    a700 or hd580 to complement my ms-1's

What kind of music do you listen to? Do you need a closed phone? If your not planning on getting an amp (or already have one) a700 or ad700s would be a better choice.
