Toxic Cables - Impressions and Discussion Thread
My congratulations to Frank. Both cables are beautiful, especially the Medusa 17. I'd like to know how that sounds compared to the SW22 v2.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
My i20s came with the first generation earhooks, earlocks and silicone tips. However I found the earhooks uncomfortable because they gripped the back of my ears too tightly. The earlocks on the other hand, were just right. Paired with the stock cable, the earlocks could support the weight...- Audiosonic

Classical music discussion, what do you like?
The organ works by César Franck, performed with largesse and verve by Jean Guillou. This recording captures the magnificent van den Heuvel and the lush acoustics of Saint Eustache.- Audiosonic

Classical music discussion, what do you like?
The best I've come across is a 1985 recording from BIS. They play with gusto, all captured in a great recording.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
If nothing else apart from the i20 with the attached cables (thickness notwithstanding)? I reckon the 10/20 should do fine. Try it out at a store?- Audiosonic

We've all, at one point or another, paid a price to own and enjoy the iSines. Or any other gear for that matter.- Audiosonic

Don't see why not. That's why the i20 with Lightning costs 30 dollars more.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
Wow, great deal on the i20. And it don't matter if they are refurb'ed. The QC process should still be the same.- Audiosonic

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Hi, thanks for the question. All this started with Audeze's iSine 20 when I was looking around for better earphones. So began the journey into computer audio.. I didn't consider a DAP because I only listen at my desk and I don't need portability. While I am impressed with what the Sony WM1Z...- Audiosonic

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Thank you. I'm shopping for my office too. A local retailer is offering a seven-day money back refund. Going by past customer experience, they are confident I'll keep it. The next thing to sort out would be the USB cabling.- Audiosonic

Sony PHA-3 balanced portable dac/amp
Read the PHA-3 has "an asynchronous USB 2.0 clock that supports highly accurate DA conversions." Wonder how effective this is on its own? Cause I'm thinking of buying the iFi Nano iUSB3.0 to clean up and re-clock the data from the computer.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
My i20s are currently running single ended through my PHA-3. They sound decent. I've ordered a pair of balanced Toxic Silver Widows, so I'm expecting better performance after they arrive.- Audiosonic

[unboxing] KEF LS50 Wireless
Thank you for a good read about the LS50Ws. Since switching to headphones in the mid 90s, I almost bought them after an audition. A reality check and the prospect of equipment creep stopped me. But if an upgraded version came out with DSD decoding, things might be different the next time round.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
I was told, in passing, that any 2-pin cable fitting Westone IEMs will work too. In any case, the iSines have been in the market long enough, cablers should know the pin type by now. Just tell them what you've got, and require the correct connectors.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
Cables with silver content appear to be popular. But you should factor in the tonal signature of the amp you're feeding it with. Personally I'm leaning toward cables with silver or gold content. Partly because my amp is warm in signature. So having silver cables would open up the top end.- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
Thanks for the insightful reply. Yes I'm curious about the Pelicans as tough mobile boxes. Preferably one large enough to comfortably contain an eight braid cable without having to unplug them. I'm feeding my i20s with the PHA-3 at the office. So I listen desk bound and don't move around with...- Audiosonic

Audeze iSINE 10 & iSINE 20: Audeze releases two new IEM planar magnetic earphones
Nice case. Is that a Pelican 1020 by any chance? And speaking of the Groovy tips, do they grip better or sound different compared to the smooth tips supplied with the earlier batches?- Audiosonic

Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7
Great! I've noticed that the majority of USB cables come with either Mini or B connectors. Micro connectors don't appear, from what I've seen, to be as commonly available compared to other connectors. On a side note, Kimber Axios looks nice. Probably a warm sounding cable given the copper...- Audiosonic

Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7
Get the dock and Audioquest micro Cinnamon USB if the setup has to be at the desk. See my signature. Nothing can beat the sound signature coming out of it. Interesting combo especially with the AQ Cinnamon micro USB. I've been researching various micro USB cables for the PHA-3 and the Cinnamon...- Audiosonic
