I'm about to recable some monoprice 9927s that I uses at work (in a warehouse on overnights), but the cable has horrible microphonics. Recable disaster
Yeah you can just strip the cut ends and solder them to the drivers. How competent are you with a soldering iron? Edit: be sure to add some strain relief before you put it all back together! Quote:- Undisclosed

Hakko or xytronic?
Quote: Cant say I've ever used a xytronic. The typical entry stations I've used and seen are hakko/weller/aoyue. For general through hole soldering, some smd work and cable making, my hakko 936 (old version of the new Hakko fx888) is used almost exclusively. I have 2 wands and a...- Undisclosed

Hakko or xytronic?
I have not used the xytronic, but I have used my 936 for 3 years now. Its seen a lot of use and hasn't let me down. The new 888 uses the same wands and therefore the same tips as the 936, which are both really cheap.- Undisclosed

LF DIY Tube Amp suggestions
Im really digging the reviews on the Bijou. Anyone know if its possible to use a different power supply with the bijou, such as the sigma 11, as i was planing to build a separate power supply for the sake of being modular.- Undisclosed

Replacing a headphone jack
to tin those enamel wires, tin the tip of the soldering iron heat each wire until you see the enamel burn off and solder gets pulled into the wire, add some more when this happens. Then continue to solder to connector as per usual.- Undisclosed

Starquad patch cable = Humming
I made a patch cable for my guitar using Starquad and Neutrik connectors. I doubles up the white wires for the source and blue wires for the ground. I check the cables with my multimeter and there no faults in the soldering... So what could be making the noise? I tested the amp with a stock...- Undisclosed
