how much do they change the sound. I tested the HD800 on a McIntosh Solid State amp and like the sound as is, i'm worried a tube amp with change it too much

keep in mind the LCD lineup is very heavy. Go to your local Hi-Fi store and test them out before buying. It certainly changed my mind once I tried them on. I wear my headphones for 10 hours a day so its not an option for me but they might not be has heavy for you as they were for me.

The 650 sound very similar to the 400i's. The LCD-2's are freaking heavy though. I tried them out in a Hi-Fi store today and my neck started to hurt after 10 minutes. Major flaw with these headphones that nobody mentions when they recomend them.
