I owned a EW9 but it is hard to drive it. I have a A900xltd and it is not that ideal since the bass is muddy. Maybe the burn-in hours haven't passed

Well, my ear hurts when IEM plug into my ear longer than 20 min. I use PFE 122 (one of the most comfortable earphone), and I still feel uncomfortable. I just bought a IE80 and we will see how it goes.

I heard my friend who tried and owned most of ATH headphones that A900XLTD can be replaced with EW9, CK100pro, W3000ANV, W2002, and W1000.

I would suggest you to use ATH amp like HA22.

Tried O2 combo with DT880 250ohm, Not perfect on all instrument but overall good!

I am current using O2 combo with DT880 250ohm. Overall is fine. But there are times where O2 combo can't display the instrument clear enough.

Good headphone for music instrument, but there will be times where the drum can be blurry.

You at least need a good DAC.

Which is harder to rig its full potential, K701 or HD800?

AT-HA5000 amp is design to drive low imp headphones. It should drive K701 fairly well.
