They sound very different. HE560 is a brighter sound, more upper mid and treble energy. There is no "better." You have to try them and decide what you prefer. If you want something that sounds similar to HD650, try the Audeze. 

Channel orange is probably a even "better" record. Very different style, not as obvious a headphone record to me, but definitely one of my favorites.

Me, too. Granted, I bought mine second-hand (but in otherwise fine shape), but I feel like I'm taking the pads off to tuck the flaps back under at least once every two weeks.    Mini-TRS connectors? Garbage. Quality Control of the pads? Garbage. Rest of the headphones? Wonderful. :) 

If anything in the R&B / Modern Soul / Hip-Hop sphere is your cup of tea, check out Blonde on your favorite pair of cans or IEMs. It's a great headphone record - really well produced with lots of layers and detail and great vocals.

So funny thing ...    After I wrote that post, I discovered that I'd accidentally left EQ settings on in VOX, the player I'm using for lossless on my Mac. So while I *thought* that FLAC was making tracks sound different/better, turns out it was EQ ... aka Human Error :)   Now that EQ is off...

And now I've moved into the lossless vs compressed music stage of my rabbit hole ... The same tracks really do sound better as local FLACs than streamed files, don't they? Yay, fidelity! Boo, tempted to buy more stuff!

I know this isn't the answer you want, but it's a super subjective thing ...    Personally, I think the H6 are absolutely fantastic. I like treble, I like accurate but not thumping bass, and I don't really need "lush" or "forward" mids. I tried a bunch of <$400 closed cans, including a few...

Also, HD 600 are open back. Different beast.    I'm not a headphonus supremus, but I've listened to a few dozen different models over the past 18 months, anyway. H6 are pretty remarkable for closed-back headphones when it comes to soundstage and generally feeling/sounding open and natural. But...

To each his own, as always :) I can't stand either the original M or the M2. One man's "intimacy and warmth" is another man's "blech!"  

H6 destroys Momentum 2. More resolving, better extension, more detail.

Well, I certainly don't feel misled or upset at all. Just find it fascinating, both in terms of what we're all able to perceive and talk about, and that quest for the last 0.0x% of whatever it is we want out of sound (or gear ... Or life). The differences between the amps are for sure present...

Amps. Wild.    As per many, many people all across the internet ... amps make a difference! But, man that difference can be subtle!   This video-game-looking Project Polaris now on my desk does sound "better" with my 560s than either the Magni 2 or giant Onkyo receiver I've also been using...

I finally pulled the trigger on an amp, thanks to all for your recommendations.    Got a very gently used Polaris off the Head-Fi classifieds. Just trying it out now with the 560s. Am really going to try listen, enjoy, and otherwise decide what I think of it before even entertaining DAC...

I've been running my 560s off a Magni 2. No problems at all getting volume without distortion well beyond how loud I like to listen. I usually keep the pot around 10-11 o'clock with the Magni 2 in high gain mode. But the sound is, I think, just a little on the thin/harsh side. They still sound...
