Been using the beta firmware for a few days now and the scroll wheel is perfect. Before it would constantly go to far or to short when trying to select tracks, now it goes exactly where I want it to :) 

I've not noticed any sound difference between using it as a DAP or DAC either to be honest.  

Just installed the new beta firmware and the scroll wheel is a lot more precise than it was before :)  It doesn't skip past what I am trying to select and goes where I want it to now, good job FiiO! 

    I think my ears could do with this, I dread to think how much wax is in them from wearing my IEMs and pushing the tips half way down my ear canal.

  I don't have any cotton unfortunately, I suppose filling them with anything (within reason) would have the same effect. Depending on what you use, i'd guess there would most likely be a difference in comfort and sound though.

  Do you have your X5 set to high gain?  I have used mine with my X3 II on high gain and they get pretty loud. Obviously not as loud as if they were being properly amped but still loud. 

Yep, line out works when it is being used as a DAC. You can't use the headphone out at the same time as the line out though.     I have also used my HD650's with my FiiO X3II, it does a really good job with them considering they are 300 ohms.

Yeah,  I saw the ebay seller that Jon Parker linked on the previous page sells ML size ones.   I think I will go with that size to be honest, it seems to be the safest bet seen as they are larger than medium but smaller than large.

Does anyone here use the spiral dot tips with their A83?  I want to get some, but i'm unsure what size I will need. At the moment i'm using the large double flange tips that came in the box, which fit my ears comfortably. The medium ones are a bit to small for me and don't give a good enough...

  I have a FiiO X3ii and it powers my HD650 just fine, so the X5ii should have no problems.     Try the Audiofly AF140 IEMs, they are pretty similar to the HD650. 

Thanks for the recommendations guys, i'm looking into them.  I'm using my Xonar STX sound card as a DAC so I am after a amp only,  but one that is going to get more out of the HD650. 

What is a good amp to go with HD650s for ~£150 guys?  I wanted to get a Bottlehead Crack but as I am in the UK total cost including shipping, customs charges and equipment to build it comes to around £330. Which is stupid seen as the amp itself costs £180 and i'm pretty sure I could buy...
