    Schiit Owners Unite

Quick question about the Schiit Valhalla 2, since I don't know where to post this   Does anybody know how well the LISST tubes work with the Valhalla 2?    And also, has anybody bought a b-stock Schiit amp? How bad are the cosmetic damages? I plan on plasti-dipping my valhalla 2 black, so...

    Hole in DT770 membrane

There is a black foam covering. But the paper isn't a part of the driver itself. It's just a covering. After putting everything back together again, things are working just fine now. Odd.

    Hole in DT770 membrane

I was listening to my DT770s at a louder-than-normal volume (albeit nothing extreme), and I started noticing a quieter sound in the left ear as well as buzzing. After opening the headphone up, I see this:   There's a small tear in the side. I don't know how it got there. I know driver...

I have a lot of miscellaneous questions about headphones and sound in general.

Thanks! These are really good answers, exactly what I had hoped for. I appreciate it!

I have a lot of miscellaneous questions about headphones and sound in general.

So for a long time, I've wondered many things about headphones and sound. I have plenty of questions, and I'd love for my mind to be at ease from these as they have all been bothering me for a while.   Before I begin, I'd like to mention that I'm not an audio "noob", nor am I a bass-head, nor...

Review by 'NineRedTools' on item 'Audio-Technica AIR Dynamic Headphones ATH-AD900X'

I'll start off by saying I am by no means an audiophile, just a kid with some money and a passion for music.   These headphones, as far as I can tell, have more prominent mids than most headphones. They really bring out vocals and instruments, but the highs aren't too harsh like most pairs...

Looking for a pair of open headphones around the $200 range

Alright! Well, thank you for your response. I'll definitely look more into these headphones (and they do look really sexy as well!)

Looking for a pair of open headphones around the $200 range

Fidelio X1 apparently has more bass, and the X2 is more expensive. Fidelio X1 is barely cutting my budget anyways, as it can be had for just around $200   Also, about the Audio Technicas, you say they're bass light. I know they're open headphones, but do they still have an impact? Say, like an...

Looking for a pair of open headphones around the $200 range

I currently have the beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80 headphones, and they are wonderful. I love them and plan to keep them, but I'd also like an open pair of headphones as well, mostly for gaming, but a little bit of music.   I'd like for the headphone to have: - Good, impacting bass (so nothing...

    Replacing Magni/Modi LED?

@StanD I thought of this, but wondered if there was a more elegant solution.

    Replacing Magni/Modi LED?

Was wondering if this is possible, as the Modi and Magni both have awfully bright LEDs in them, and the Modi's can't be turned off. Would it be crazy for me to imagine soldering new, dimmer LEDs in?

How loud should bass be on headphones?

Yes. It doesn't distort at 12. Only once I get it louder. But this cleared things up for me

How loud should bass be on headphones?

On the schiit magni, about a 2:00 position maybe. I usually listen at 12:00

How loud should bass be on headphones?

I won't be able to test this for a while as I'm not home, but I don't turn my amp all the way up and turn the sound on. I start it and slowly turn the sound up, and it eventually makes the aforementioned "TAKTAKTAK" sound

How loud should bass be on headphones?

The best way I can describe the sound is it sounds like a loud motorcycle or lawnmower engine in a way. Not the "Vrrrrr" noise, but more of a popping sound. The best way I can write the sound is like "TAKTAKTAKTAK". It's 'taks' at a rate of like 5-10 times a second

How loud should bass be on headphones?

I'm using my DT770s, using Audacity, generating low-frequency tones from 20-50Hz. Turning the volume up to where the bass actually at a normal volume, it starts to produce a harsh clipping, rattling sound. These DT770s did this from when I first bought them brand new, on both sides (although...
