3D Print vs Stock vs Wood
Quick update, but not in a printing vein: I still use a cable at my desk, but I added a couple TRN BT30s to the build for using with the phone wirelessly. I'm using velcro adhesive pads on the front face of the TRNs (so they don't interfere with the charging case). I line the button up with...- TigrisJK

3D Print vs Stock vs Wood
I will! I'm probably going to play with materials a bit too. Been too busy to get around to it lately. Though I did make some mods to my daily drivers. Put MMCX detachable cables on them. Those MMCX connectors were the tiniest solder joins I've ever ever ever done:- TigrisJK

3D Print vs Stock vs Wood
Thanks! I have but I didn't notice much difference there. I might play around with the diameter of the outside hole, cause I think that may change things more dramatically by "closing" the can more. I just saw your build, they look great!- TigrisJK

3D Print vs Stock vs Wood
Made some modifications, the gimbals now fit with the rods perfectly (the rods self-tap into the gimbals with just a quick spin from a power drill) and I changed the internal dimensions of the chambers to be friction fit but not too tight, and put an inside collar so they can't go in any further...- TigrisJK

I got a little off the deep end. Prototyping flush fit cans for Grado 46mm drivers with gimbals. Things got crazy.- TigrisJK

I mean I guess you don't have Grados so you couldn't say, but if anyone has these... Are the gimbals the right size to fit a Grado earcup? Or have they made it larger to fit their own housings?- TigrisJK

3D Print vs Stock vs Wood
Wow. I haven't been on headfi regularly in a loooong time. Just printed a chamber from thingiverse by grandeswag (I'm sure people know these but link below anyway) to test against stock SR80s and my daily drivers with wood cups from @7keys that I've had for.... like, forever (I think I got them...- TigrisJK

Have you tested this? I was thinking the same thing but wanted to check someone else's done it before I buy a cable I don't need otherwise.- TigrisJK

LH Labs Geek Out v2+ Discussion Thread
After tons of waiting, I finally got my pre-order V2+. Quite enjoying it on my AKG 7xxs and my custom modded SR80s. Question: Anyone get the Geek Out V2+ working with a USB-C phone? More specifically, a OnePlus 3? It works beautifully on my PC, works on my Oneplus One (and probably would...- TigrisJK

Nicely done! I bought a pair of third party (EarZonk) Gs a while back and used them for a few months, but I didn't love the sound with the SR80i drivers, so I retired them. What drivers are you using? The comfort was ridiculous though. Just. Ridiculous.- TigrisJK

Making my first set of headphone cables... tips, tricks, help would be lovely.
Lessons I learned for the next build: Next time I will go with a set of translucent and black wires, so I can sort out the grounds easier without a multimeter or taping the ends. Plus it will look really cool with a copper and black braid. A third hand would be handy when soldering, mostly...- TigrisJK

No not really. Since it was my first braid I started it a little awkward so I had to go back with a multimeter near the end to check which line was which... the braid wasn't perfect near the plug, I missed something somewhere. But once I got in the groove, no issues. I could actually visually...- TigrisJK

The current state of the cans I take out. SR80i drivers, macassar ebony cans by 7keys, and my first cable build (one I did today... an 8-braid cable, with a Pailiccs 3.5mm jack). Cable built with advice from billybob_jcv and ProtegeManiac.- TigrisJK

Thanks for the help guys! I went with an 8-braid, since it fit fine in the Pailiccs. Here's what it looks like:- TigrisJK

1. The 26 AWG wire I got from BTG Audio is reaaaaally fine, even with insulation, so I was thinking it wouldn't be too much of a problem to tin the wires, then melt the tin together before attaching them to the plug. Or twisting them together then tinning the lot. Whatever works best when I get...- TigrisJK
