Bluetooth aptX conversion for headsets like Sennheiser HD 6XX
They don't mention which Bluetooth Codec it is, so it's probably SBC, which is not good. If you listen to just music, then you want aptX-HD. If you do anything with a computer, like playing games, then you want aptX Low Latency. Remember, your Bluetooth transmitter needs to have the Codec too...- James35

Bluetooth aptX conversion for headsets like Sennheiser HD 6XX
Yeah, I love having no wires hanging down and the fact that I can walk around the office and house while I'm doing projects. With wired connection, even walking from one end of the office to the other was not practical. I'm pretty sure we are seeing the start of the wireless era. Lag is not a...- James35

Bluetooth aptX conversion for headsets like Sennheiser HD 6XX
Ever since I saw the Z Review of the newest Bluetooth receivers, I've been using them and I'm also impressed as he is. So I converted 2 of my Sennheisers to use them. In case anyone was interested, I thought I'd share how I added it to my HD 6XX. I tried 2 different Mpow receivers, but...- James35

Audio GD NFB-11.28 vs R2R 11
FredA, THANK YOU very much for that information. I appreciated it. I wonder what Audio-GD was thinking with the fixed mode. What purpose does it serve?- James35

Audio GD NFB-11.28 vs R2R 11
I'm getting rid of the JBL LSR305's because the hiss gets old when you sit in front of it all day. (I should never have posted that because you are getting off topic now.) Let me repeat the important part of the question: Does anyone know the answer to this? Can the nfb11 / nfb 11.28 / R2R 11...- James35

Audio GD NFB-11.28 vs R2R 11
As I mentioned, all of the powered monitors I've tested have a hiss (even without any inputs connected). I currently have JBL LSR305's.- James35

Audio GD NFB-11.28 vs R2R 11
I cannot find this answer anywhere. Can the nfb11 / nfb 11.28 / R2R 11 power passive 5" bookshelf speakers? Seems like the Fixed position might work but would not have volume control so that is not really a solution. I have good hearing and all of the powered monitors I've tested have a hiss...- James35

DT990 Pro Impressions Thread
I like my sound to look like a V. Lot's a bass and clean treble so it's not muffled sounding. The sound is alive. Even with the Aune T1 tube amp, the treble is definitely still present, trust me. Even to the point where my EQ is flat on the right side. No treble boost needed. The Magni, on...- James35

I would agree. The Magni/Modi is too bright. Everything was shifted up. Less bass and more treble so it does not pair well with the DT990. The Aune T1 MK2 on the other hand is simply awesome with the DT990.- James35

A free parametric equalizer for Windows Vista, 7, and 8 that doesn't need ASIO or VST, it works inline at the OS level
Well, sweet. The Equalizer APO software worked perfect for me on Windows 8. I used the Peace GUI interface to control it. Really nice to have 1 EQ controlling everything!- James35

Schiit Magni Headphone Amplifier
Well, I'm excited to receive my Modi/Magni tomorrow! I tried the Aune T1 MK2 which sounded great, but the entire unit got warm in temperature which is not what I need in my home office in Las Vegas (which already gets warm due to the other electronic equipment in here.) I really don't feel...- James35

If I go to Sound in the control panel (Windows 8), I can apply EQ settings to the "High Definition Audio Device", but I can't do it to my Scarlett 2i2. I hope I can do it to my Schitt when it comes.- James35

Speaking of EQ, is it possible to have 1 Windows based EQ that essentially affects everything across the board (browsers, VLC, Foobar, etc). That would be more convenient plus work for things like browsers.- James35

DT990 Pro Impressions Thread
Yep. I'm not going to lie, I did turn up the bass in the EQ. What I love is the fact that a good amp can allow these to maintain the bass without losing clarity on the mids. The detail is still there. When I tried without a good amp, you can get the volume, but the clarity is gone. A car...- James35

Well, I'm not sure if it's the break in (about a month of use) or what, but these DT-990's have really come in to their glory. The bass has seemed to have increased. They certainly take advantage of a good amp. The motherboard and Klipsh Promedia power was relatively weak and did not do these...- James35

Splashy, it's possible you might have something wrong with that pair, but in case you don't know, open back headphones don't have as much base as closed headphones. If you are looking for serious bass, the current king is JVC SZ2000. I think the consensus is that open back headphones have a nice...- James35

Do I need a DAC / AMP or sound card for the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1?
The built-in amp is strong enough for your neighbors to hear. I own 3 sets of the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's. I really love them especially for the price. Only issues I've had is hiss. The bass is strong. Not as tight and controlled punch as I'd like. The port makes the bass extremely powerful, but...- James35

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!
As I mentioned in my post, I need the open back for family safety reasons (if the 3 year old is crying, wife needs me, dogs barking, etc). I was trying to ascertain if the T50RP drivers work well in an open enclosure. I only found 1 open back mod (FrankenTex). And early reports for the...- James35

Just listened to some Fostex T50RPs today... WOW!
Can the T50RP be modded for open back? (For family safety concerns, I really need to hear my wife and son while wearing these.) I was really excited to learn about the T50RP and I enjoy modding things. The open back doesn't have to be perfect, but I want to be able to hear some outside...- James35
