I have Berlin on the brain lately because of their Digital Concert Hall series. Actually, the set I'm thinking of includes recordings from Dresden, Bayern, Leipzig and several others.

Deutsche Grammophon is releasing a limited run of Carlos Kleiber's recordings with the Berlin Philharmonic on vinyl at the end of September. They're also releasing a CD box set, but if you're into vinyl, this is something to watch for and add to your collection.

Looking for bands/musicians who use unusual or creative instrumentation, preferably in the US.

From a n00b, it was great to meet folks and see what's happening. It's a new world for me, so I was geeking out on things that I didn't expect to see/hear. I don't speak the language that many of you do, coming at it from a different angle, but it was both fun and--in one case--life changing...
