TEAC UD-H01 USB DAC
I have had my Teac UD-H01 for a couple months and I am pretty pleased with its performance. It replaced a FiiO combo so not that much competition. However, I am considering a headphone amplifier to bypass the Teac's. Has anyone else done this? What is likely to be the minimum cost to...- Rambaud

USB Amp/DAC Recommendation
I have the FiiO E10 and E7 which have worked fine. I had to return the FiiO E9 headphone amplifier (and dock for the E7) as it developed a crackling noise on the right channel of the volume control.- Rambaud

What is the Best Amp / DAC Combination for ~$500?
Just bought a Teac UD-H01 a few days ago to go with my AKG 702s (with KImber replacement cable). Only about 20 hours of burn-in so far - but I am liking what I hear (as I type it's Fleetwood Mac's Tango In The Night @ 24/192kHz flac file). A significant improvement over my FiiO E7 & E9...- Rambaud

Cheapest Amplifier Possible? Maintaining quality
I use a FiiO E10 and a FiiO E7 which are both USB headphone amplifier + DAC combos. The latter is portable (battery) but can also be docked to the FiiO E9 headphone amplifier. Although not expensive, they give a lot of bang per buck - used with my iPod Touch and Macbook Pro.- Rambaud

Fiio are starting to freak me out ...
I have an E5, E7 and E9. I am amazed at the build quality and performance for their price. [And have no connection with the company, other than as a customer. :) ]- Rambaud

Review: Fiio E7
AFAIK, the E7 only works as an amp when connected via a LOD to an iPod - i.e. like the E5?- Rambaud

Fiio E7 vs Nuforce Icon Mobile
Quote: I have the AKG K702 which AFAIK are the same to drive as the K701. My E7 has no problem with the K702 via a LOD on my iPod. The E7 is even better partnered with the E9.- Rambaud

Sound card recommendation?
Yes, a good soundcard can make a big difference. I went back and tried a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (analogue) in my new PC and was amazed at the improvement. So I bought a M-Audio 192, and it was better still. Then a new DAC, then a new amp, then new speakers, new cables, then a better DAC...- Rambaud

PX100 Vs Portapro! VOTE NOW!
PX100s arrived this morning. First impressions were a bit "bassy" compared to my HD595s, but light & comfortable (for the few minutes I was wearing them). Much better than my iPod's ear-buds. Seem good value for £15. Currently burning them in via my MacBook.- Rambaud

Squeezebox/Transporter question
I use my SB3 with a Zhaolu DAC (bought mainly for the headphone amp). The Zhaolu has XLR connections so I have ordered some Blue Jeans cables - still awaiting their arrival, as I did not spot they are sourced from the US. I shall try turning off the digital volume to see if I can detect...- Rambaud

Ipod question
One of the main reasons I bought an iPod was to use iTunes on my MacBook - I use J River Media Center to organise my main audio files (APE) on my PC for playing through my SqueezeBox. Also, the iTunes vouchers enable you to download a £7.99 album for less than £2.00 (£100 voucher costs £25/£30)).- Rambaud

cellphone as media player
I have tried my Nokia 6323 and Sony Ericsson W800i mobile phones with my HD595s. Not too bad, but only listened to a few tracks (all 320kbps mp3 files). Not tried them through the car's (cheapie) stereo yet - although the iPod was OK.- Rambaud

Myths And Facts About AAC
I am happy with AAC for non critical listening - all bought via iTunes store: £100 vouchers are available for £25-£30, which means that a £7.99 costs just under £2.00 which seems a pretty good deal. I convert them to mp3 format to stream them through my SqueezeBox.- Rambaud
