I'd rather pay $50 more for a product made elsewhere. It makes sense for Mcdonalds to produce their happy-meal toys in China, not for Sennheiser to make expensive headphones there.

The top headband also has a pointy stitch that sticks out. Why would Sennheiser sacrifice the quality of their products by making them in China? Why not build all but their cheapest products in Ireland or Germany? My HD-280's are built in Ireland; why can't my Mommentum's?

It doesn't appear to affect the sound. I am probably being too OCD, but I expect perfection from $350 headphones.

Is it normal for the stitching to be very, very uneven on the case? Also, the leather is ruffled like crazy on one side of the earcup and smooth on the other side. I am wondering if I should return these to Sennheiser. Mine might just be defective. If it is usuall for them to be like this then...

Are Are you talking about the main cable? I meant the cable sticking out of each earcup connecting them.

Thanks for answering. Santa, AKA my parents, ordered the Momentum for Christmas. I do have one question. Is the cable that connects the earcups to the headband fragile? I'm worried that it will shear if it gets snagged on something.

I forgot to say it is an interior cable problem likely. If I can't fix 'em I'll probably buy him a V-Moda M80. Bass orientated on-ears that aren't made of cheap, crappy plastic.
