PSB M4U 2
Mine also developed the cracks, I then had to force the German retailer to send me a replacement during warranty. These new also developed the same cracks after 1+ year plus wiring to one earcup seems also to break... BUT: the sound is so incredible great without too much boost in any aspect...- chrisba

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?
That's correct, you're right Sorry for the misunderstanding If you're on Android maybe the app Tasker may help using this profile here with a specific action to trigger it when you leave your music app? http://tasker.wikidot.com/bluetooth-auto-turn-off But if you stop it you could also...- chrisba

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?
You have to use the app which lets you change the auto-off time (which seems to be disabled on yours - one improvement compared to the predecessors where you can not use them indefinitely just for ANC without music)- chrisba

SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?
Well, to me the QC35 (II) sounded thick but tamed somehow. I own the M2's and the NC felt noticably better while comparing them with QC35 in noise environment. While commuting by train I actually love the M2's. No idea if the M3's are better but they were nearly twice the price during my...- chrisba

PSB M4U 2
I also got some cracks near the cups swivel hinge with no issues. The worse were these at the opposite side of the screws! My first pair completely fell apart and lost the screws. The second showed the same cracks (sent it immediately back to the distributor) and my current third pair does show...- chrisba

In the end it's more about bass and mids than treble I think. Maybe you find this useful and hopefully it matches your taste and experience when you audition the Q5. I can recommend at least to try it! :-)- chrisba

Thank you very much! Now I have to answer lengthy ;-) The major improvement to me was the ground solid bass with enhanced treble providing more air and fun (bass makes me happy). When I remember correctly the width was "enlarged" due to the treble - but not that much. For me it is already very...- chrisba

PSB M4U 2
For my taste active M4U2 is a lot better than passive: more and heavier bass and more vivid treble. Actually more sounding like really listening to speakers. But that's my taste :-)- chrisba
