Recommend a headphone for rock (modern and classic) that's also a good all-rounder (I've tried the HD-800's, LCD2's, and HE-500's)
Quote: Thanks for the reply. I haven't heard of the Fostex cans... so I'll do a bit of research on those. The T1's sound like they may be a good suite for me. I found Zombie_X's review of the T1's and he hits the main points I find problematic with the HD800's...- guitarlp

Amps that can drive the HiFiMan HE-6 planar headphones
Can an AVR's headphone out jack supply enough power to the HE-6's? I have a Lyr for my desktop music listening, but I'm wondering if the HE-6 can be used for Movies and Games in my living room.- guitarlp

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
How much should I be paying on eBay for some Mullard E88CC tubes? I found these for $199: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-MATCHED-NOS-MULLARD-GOLD-PIN-E88CC-6922-6DJ8-for-DAC-Preamp-Headphone-Amp-/370831037477?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item5657409425 Is that too much? There's some...- guitarlp

Schiit Lyr - The tube rolling thread
I'm thinking of trying some GE 6DJ8 Smoked tubes in my Lyr, but I have a question about buying on eBay. What the the test number's they're listing? I'm assuming higher is better... but do I want both the numbers to be the same? For example: When he says 8400/8500 is that good? Is...- guitarlp

Am I crazy for preferring the HE-500's over the LCD2.2's?
Quote: Looks like we have the same setup (Lyr + Bifrost), except I'm using the stock cable on both the LCD2 and HE-500. I won't pay for that until I've settled on headphones. Unless you're running some different tubes then me (stock GE), the HE-500 just sounds better to my ears with...- guitarlp

Am I crazy for preferring the HE-500's over the LCD2.2's?
I was torn between both headphones so I picked up both and am trying them out to see which one I want to keep. I swore I'd prefer the LCD2's based on the overwhelming great reviews over all other headphones except for maybe the LCD3's, HD800's, and even HE-6's. I'm not a bass head, but I do like...- guitarlp

Most affordable way to extend the HE-500 cables?
I have the HE-500 headphones but their stock cables (10 feet) aren't long enough to reach my amp from where I listen to music. Currently I'm connecting that cable to a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter, which connects to a 1/4" female to female adapter, and then a regular 1/4 cable from that adapter...- guitarlp
