Quote: I saw that came out. I'm gonna wait until I'm back stateside before I pick it up. My only other option right now is iTunes and I don't want to do that. -

Quote: Actually I haven't listened to anything with out Portnoy. I'm behind the curve on DT right now. -

Quote: I agree. He's the guy that showed me that keyboards could be cool. His work in Liquid Tension Experiment is amazing as well. -
Best audiophile metal and rock albums
Quote: Yeah it must! I love Dream Theater. Though his voice does irritate me after a while. It's just so high and predictable. But both bands in my opinion have to notch drummers... Well Dream Theater used to not so sure now. -
Best audiophile metal and rock albums
Quote: I tried "The Incident" and didn't like it. I think the drumming is awesome for most of the tracks the guy has a great sound for sure. But the lyrics and his singing make me want to take a power drill to my head. -
Best audiophile metal and rock albums
Quote: Man, I've tried super hard to get into the Porcupine Tree thing but just can't seem to do it. Maybe I just haven't listened to the right album. Any suggestions on that front? -
Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
Quote: I haven't noticed any lack in the mids and I'm well over the 100 hour mark, but i could just have forgotten about that part initially. I have noticed that the bass is more present in the mix but I don't find it overpowering.- Mrhat201

Second on Tool and APC. I love all their albums and I really like that they sound pretty much the same live. -
Fiio E17 Review
Quote: I don't see why you couldn't do that as long as a) your smartphone will output audio from the usb b) you have the right adapter. I can' think of a reason why this would be considered a PC only unit.- Mrhat201

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
Quote: Personally, if you're going to go that route I'd just get the E17 and see how much you like that before you go all in with the E17/E9K set up. The E17 is a DAC/AMP combo when you use the USB input from a computer or other source. That'd save you a little cash in the whole process...- Mrhat201

Audio-Technica ATH-A900X: Impressions, Reviews, Mods, etc.
Quote: I don't know about the O2. I have an E17 for my portable(ish) rig with the a900x's and I enjoy it. IMO the E17 is a little warm but it still puts out a great sound. Between the Schiit and the E17 i'd go with the Schiit.- Mrhat201

I hooked mine up to the Fiio E17 and I must say that it's a great combo as well. Not quite as good as the Modi/Magni but still awesome.- Mrhat201

Best audiophile metal and rock albums
Quote: I did hear that David Draiman was producing the album, and I think that it will be a great partnership for all involved. I'm not crazy about what I've read about how they are recording it, but there you go. I know that Matt Heafy is all about home production but I feel like if they... -
Spock's Beard
Feel Euphoria is one of my favorite albums. Gets a little rough in some places but I like it overall. -

I love Trivium-Shogun. I think it's a great album. The recording values aren't fantastic but still a good listen. -

This Schiit is Bananas! $99 Schiit Magni Amp and $99 Modi DAC
Quote: More or less. When I loaded them onto my hard drive in the first place they were done as uncompressed/large files. When I loaded them into iTunes initially I compressed them to save space on my computer. So now that I have seen the error of my ways I deleted them and started over.- Mrhat201

This Schiit is Bananas! $99 Schiit Magni Amp and $99 Modi DAC
I actually ordered the Modi/Magi combo so I'm pretty excited to see how that will work out. I'm actually overseas right now so I don't have the room for a big rig where I'm at. I recently reloaded my music collection into iTunes to convert it to a hight bit rate and try and clean it up a...- Mrhat201
