    Grado Fan Club!

GH1 midrange is not recess when compared with other companies' headphones, but I did find that it has less mid range bump than some other Grados.

    Grado Fan Club!

If the GH1 uses deeper Rs1 like cups, I am certain it  will increase the sound-stage and holographic impression by a large margin.  But I think the RS1 will still sound more sharp and precise due to the slightly denser wood material of Mahogany vs Maple.  The Maple certainly brings a very warm...

    Grado Fan Club!

Hello Head-fi members, I am a long time Grado fan and also an existing RS1i owner who just received my pair of GH1 headphones from the dealer.  I am going to post my very early impression of the GH1 and also compare it to my RS1i since I am sure there are many members who wants to know which one...

Grado SR80i vs SR60i ? Does it really matters ?

If you cannot find much difference in sound between the two models, I say get the 60i if you mainly listen from your ipod/portable player, get the 80i if you listen to an amplifier at home.  The lighter gauge wire is handy for portable applications.

    WA3 or WA6 for HD 700?

I happen to own HD800, HD700 and HD650 and a WA3.  I have to say the HD700 pairs very well with the WA3, in fact, as good as the HD650.  I highly recommend this combo, plus it is very affordable.  On the other hand, the HD800 did not pair as well as the WA3, i find it too laid back.

Headphones vs Speakers - The Age old debate

I happened to own a Naim XS system hooked up to a pair of Proac Tablette bookshelf speakers at one point, so I think I can relate to you question.   The two experience will be different, both with their own trade offs.     Headphones will always sound more intimate and personal, even in...

My mini review of the Stax SRS-2170 entry level electrostatic headphones system!

Quote: Hi Hifi01170,   It has been a while since my last impression of the SRS-2170.  I have to say my impression of them remains fairly consistency with my initial review.  My description of the SRS-2170 remains a very laid back, enveloping europhonic headphone system.  The only...

My mini review of the Stax SRS-2170 entry level electrostatic headphones system!

Hello fellow Head-fi members,    I was able to pick up the entry level Stax SRS-2170 electrostatic headphone system for approximately $600 USD when I was in Japan last month, and I figured I will offer my opinion on these great headphones, since there are so few reviews for them here on...

    Audio Shops in Toronto?

In regards to Headfoneshop, it is a one man shop with limited stock, but they are the only store in Toronto that carries ALO audio gears.   I also recommand headphonebar.com as an online retailer.  They are located in the vancouver region, and specialize in head-fi gears.  Usually have free...

    Audio Shops in Toronto?

My advice for demo is also Bay Bloor Radio or Planet of Sound in Toronto, and Headfoneshop near midtown.  Bay Bloor Radio is actually fairly competitive during holiday events and promotions periods.  You just need to know when that happens.  I personally have no problem letting them charge a few...

Hey all, I here can confirm that italmelodie.com carries the 88th anniversary DT 770 Pro 32 ohms limited edition.  I placed my ordered about 3 weeks ago, and received it in about two weeks time.  It was a "preorder" at the time, but i can see that they now have it in stock as per their website...

Considering the STAX SRS2170 basic system... how it compares to dynamic headphones flagships or ex-flagships like HD-650/800, T1, LCD2/3 and Hifiman?

Hi All!  This is my very first post at Head-Fi even though I have been lurking at this forum for the past 3 years....    Anyways!  I will be traveling to the Hokkaido province of Japan in two weeks and I am seriously considering getting the STAX SRS-2170 as my first entry into electro static...
