    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

A few days into my first KZ foray via the ZSN and I'm pretty happy. I've been using my ER3XRs at work and I really like them, but I wanted something I could just leave there and not worry about if they're stolen/damaged. Wasn't sure about buying the ZSNs since historically I have not gotten...

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

Thanks for the info about the grade, that makes sense. And just to clarify I do know not to hold them by those panels, I'm just somewhat clumsy and can see myself fumbling with them at some point and grabbing the panels in a half-panic.

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

So, I took a chance on an ebay listing from a big seller for an HD800 listed as refurbished with no pictures since it was $670 shipped. Got it today and gave it a once over and I don't see anything wrong with the condition, so hopefully I don't have any failure issues in the future (the packing...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I got some ER3XRs a couple weeks ago to use at work and these things fascinate me. I don't have a ton of IEM experience, but with others I've always had to use the smallest tips that come with them as everything else either wouldn't sit in my ear properly or just be uncomfortable. Recently I...

iBasso IT01 a fun IEM. Single multilayered graphene driver. !! 99 USD !!

I have some CP100-Ss on the way so I'm hoping those will work out. I think the problem has been that the smaller tips I have just don't go past the edge of the nozzle enough (like the small wide-bore grey tips the IT01 comes with barely seem to get past it) or just don't give me the right...

iBasso IT01 a fun IEM. Single multilayered graphene driver. !! 99 USD !!

Got these to replace the RE-400s I use at work and I'm pretty disappointed, though it's really on me. Not disappointed in the sound, in fact I enjoy it quite a bit, but unfortunately the nozzles are just too wide and long to be comfortable in my small and-probably-oddly-angled ear canals. I...

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

So does anyone own both the E2000 and the RE-400? I have the latter and like them, but I'd like something with just a bit more bass kick and from what I've read the E2000 seem like they might be the ticket.

    Fostex T-X0 Massdrop edition

I'm surprised they didn't get these out early to reviewers like they usually do. Maybe they really didn't do much of anything to them and they just want to sell some near-stock Mk IIs for $150. >_>

    Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review

I bought a Pilot Pad from ZMF and I find it quite comfortable.  Looks a bit goofy because of how big it is, but still looks much nicer than the ones that snap together at the top IMO (PP uses velcro).

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

...Oh.  >_>   Well, those were very polite ways of letting me know I'm an idiot.  Even though I had read the manual it somehow didn't sink in that the switch was only for input, even though looking at it right now it very clearly says that.  Oh well, better to be dumb than in need of replacing...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

So the balanced cable for my HD 6XX arrived today, but unfortunately there's almost no audio when I use it in balanced mode (everything works fine in SE mode).  I made sure to flip the switch to balanced mode and I plugged everything in as deep as seems safe.  At first I thought there was no...

Happy as a Pig in Schiit: Introducing Modi Multibit

Welp, Mimby is on the way.  Recently got one of the last Jots they had in stock, have enjoyed it so far and toyed around with the notion of getting a Mimby so I can sell my M9xx, and finally pulled the trigger.  Sometimes I really loathe this hobby, way to easy to spend money without really...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Got my Jot in yesterday, pretty glad I made the purchase.  I liked my HD6XX (HD650) before on my M9XX, but using the M9XX as a DAC and Jot as the amp has stepped it up more than I was expecting.  I'm horrid at describing things so I'll just say it sounds "fuller" than before.  I'm also getting a...

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

So from what I gather when I asked before the M9XX isn't a great pairing for the HD650s, would Jotunheim be appreciably better?  From what I can understand they have the same DAC but Jotunheim seems to have a better amp, so would it be worthwhile to swap?  I know the go-to recommendation for the...

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

If you think the HD650 has insane bass then the TH-X00 would make you think there's an earthquake.

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Yeah they are a bit tight, but it doesn't bother me.  In fact I actually prefer to have my headphones snugger rather than looser (that's one thing I don't really care for about the TH-X00, they're quite relaxed-fitting on me).  I guess it's possible that the sides of my head are less convex...

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

In PA, got mine today.  Just started listening, first impressions are positive but too early to tell where I'll rank them.  I do really like the build of this thing though, I guess I have a kinda weirdly shaped head since a lot of headphones don't feel like they fit properly and I have to fiddle...

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Dang, I'm about 60 outside of that first group so I guess I don't have a chance for the serial number 57 I wanted.  Oh well.  Still excited to get the headphones soon since the only Senns I own are some wireless headphones (the RS 160).

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

That reminds me, are there any pads that work well with these or should I just stick to the stock?  I have some HM5 pads and Alpha pads but they're quite different than stock, not sure if it'd be worthwhile swapping.

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

I think CA is the only state that has to pay tax since Massdrop is headquartered there.  Or to be more accurate, CA is the only state where tax is outright imposed through the site since everyone is supposed to pay their state's sales tax too, it's just most people conveniently forget to do that...

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

No, his analogy is not correct.  Someone who misses out on a Black Friday deal because they weren't in line early enough could have done more, they could have shown up earlier.  People who were waiting at 9AM for this drop then tried to buy them for several hours could have done nothing more...

    Sennheiser x Massdrop HD6XX Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

You're looking at it the wrong way.  The proper analogy would be if people are camped out for a Black Friday deal, then the store just starts randomly pulling people from the line regardless of position so there are people who were camped out the front who don't get to go in and people from...
