Audio-gd NFB-28
Ha, good question; I meant more on the DAC/Amp side. I do consider those headphones high end or "end game." But I've never had DAC/Amps that I consider "end game." There are many, many more expensive, higher end options out there and I can't compare my experience to those. So I was just...- tacky187

Audio-gd NFB-28
Hey all, I just wanted to pipe in and state for anyone looking at the NFB-28, that it pairs awesome with LCD-3s. I've tried a lot of gear over the past couple of years (nothing super high end, mind you), and this combo is up there with my BHA-1/PS-1000 combo that I loved so much. I can't count...- tacky187

Matrix X-Sabre DAC review and impression thread
I just received my X-Sabre today. I have a Macbook Retina and the USB was plug and play just like the documentation said. My iTunes and Spotify sound good, and when I fired up Audirvana Plus and switched to my higher res music, it really came alive and sounded pretty fantastic; although I...- tacky187

Quote: You can search this thread for some previous comments about balanced termination. Mine were 4-pin XLR terminated and I loved it. BUT, my BHA-1 amp is known for producing better sound in balanced mode. To me, balanced sound improvements are more about the DAC/amp than the cans...- tacky187

Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared)
Quote: +1 It's becoming a chore to wade through the sludge of posts to find the good content, like the fact David is adding two more reviews. Hopefully, the admins will deal with it since the primary offender appears to be pretty damn obtuse.- tacky187

Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared)
Quote: Quote: +1 As I got into this hobby and finally landed some nice gear, I found myself going through so many albums to re-hear them with the setup, as I am sure most of us do. I decided to give Grace a spin not expecting much, considering I have listened to it...- tacky187

Quote: LOL. Don't hate the player, hate the game. ;) I use the short stock cable because my amp is within 3 feet of me. But if you need something longer, yeah, you'll need a XLR extension cable.- tacky187

PS1000 Impressions Thread
I converted my PS1000s to 4 pin XLR. Mainly because I planned on using the Mjolnir amp, which ONLY supports balanced connections. I have since ended up with the Bryston, which has both Balanced and SE outputs. I have a fully balanced NFB1.32 DAC, the Bryston BHA-1 and my PS1000s connected...- tacky187

Jackskelly, another thing to check out is the PS-500. It's much cheaper and I've read that when used with the bowl cushions, it sounds really good too. Then you could at least check out the "Grado sound" without investing too much.- tacky187

PS1000 Impressions Thread
Quote: I haven't yet heard the HD800 or the LCD2 headphones (yet.) I have the PS1000 and the T1 and, overall, I prefer the PS1000. I do like the T1; even though it is bright, it has less crisp highs than the PS1000, and coupled with the nice amp, you can pump a bit more volume into...- tacky187

What does the beyer T1's warranty card look like? Is it that little guarantee booklet?
FWIW, I am in a similar boat. I wrote Beyerdynamic and got this response this morning: So if you can't get the original bill of sale, using your serial number you can at least get the parts for your T1 headphones under warranty.- tacky187

There's the "guarantee" booklet that is in many languages which outlines what is covered, but not really a classic "warranty card" that you would fill out and send in. Check out some of the "unboxing" videos on youtube and you can see if what you got matches those. You can register your...- tacky187

Amp for Grado PS1000
I also commented about this in the PS1000 appreciation thread, but I ended up with the following gear: DAC: Audio-gd NFB1.32 (I wanted a balanced set up, it supports high end USB transfer rates, and the Sabre DAC chip) AMP: Bryston BHA-1 (I wanted a balanced amp with great power) ...- tacky187

Just wanted to follow up on my original post, where I asked what amp to get to take these headphones to the next level. I ended snagging a Bryston BHA1 from another head-fier. I just picked up this DAC last week and have been loving it! I would tell you what I upgraded from, but I prefer not be laughed at, haha. I will say that when it arrived, I couldn't get the USB portion to function. It bummed me out because that is one of the reasons I purchased this...- tacky187

Hi all, I just picked up a pair of PS1000s and they should be here in a couple of days. I am new to these forums and hope it's cool to post in a thread that looks to be nearly a couple of years old (instead of posting in a new one.) I am curious about people's opinions on DACs/AMPs...- tacky187
