Sound weaker on the left side? Sony MDR-V6
Did you ever find out what was the problem or find a solution? I bought my v6's a few months ago and have had the same problem ever since. I was suspicious that it might be a counterfeit but I ended up being too lazy to do anything about it. Other people have also noticed a slight difference in...- reaqter

Thanks Bixby, those look nice. At this price range, will most speakers sound about the same? Quote: I've been haunting CL and Goodwill for a while but I think the problem is that I don't know what's a good deal and what's not. I've got a mini list of speakers that more than 3...- reaqter

Quote: I can stretch to a bit over $100 USD. The only actual speakers I've ever had were a Logitech Z-2300 2.1 set of comp speakers. I have a pair of old Pioneer Centrex bookshelf ones that seriously suck because they're so darn shrill in the upper range...a bookshelf pair would be...- reaqter

The Canon Thread
Quote: Hm...I have a couple AE-1's lying around, but I always end up using full manual anyway. I wonder which will last longer over the next few years, the FTb or the AT? They're both in great condition.- reaqter

The Canon Thread
Sorry to interrupt, and I might have missed it in the 100-odd pages I didn't have time to read, but does anyone have a film Canon, 60s-70s era? I've got an FTb body that I like except that it's a bit bulky, so I'm thinking of testing out the AT-1 I have stashed at home.- reaqter

Not sure for 100$
Yep, 1977. From what I've read (and seen firsthand), that decade had really solid construction, so buying second-hand could get you something in great condition that will last a long time. I don't see any of the old turntables I bought dying or falling apart any time soon. As for eBay...I...- reaqter

Not sure for 100$
I don't think you can plug in your headphones directly into the turntable...it comes with L/R cables. So anything like speakers or a receiver that accept them should have a headphone plug that you can listen to there. You could do better for the money, if you're willing to spend a little...- reaqter

Haha, I'm more or less in the same boat. Hopefully someone will come by with advice. My stuff: Sony PS-3300 / Kenwood 3070 (could use either) semi-functional Tandberg 2055 receiver (R channel only, probably won't use) NAD PP-2 preamp On CL there are a pair of JBL Control...- reaqter

Kenwood KD 2070 vs Technics SL BD20D- Need help picking
Wow, glad everything's working out for you! My Kenwood arrived today, but...without cartridge or stylus. Maybe I can get some refund out of the guy (the eBay listing pic & description clearly described cart & stylus) and get myself a nice new set. So much for eBay...I'm glad I only paid a...- reaqter

Beginner turntable questions
I had to reply to a guy with a NMH avatar pic. But I have nothing to say. You could consider going for some 70s turntables, that's what I've done. But it makes setup a lot finickier.- reaqter

Hmm - I was going off of this mainly: http://www.audioasylum.com/audio/vinyl/messages/819.html "Now it's time to set the tracking force approximately. If you can, try to fix the Platter in place so that it cannot rotate. How this is done best depends upon the turntable, but please make...- reaqter

Er, hold on, maybe I have the wrong terms. The manual says: Tracking Force Adjustment Range: 0-3g (Little knob by the tonearm..origin...base plate..thing...) Shell Weight: 7.5g Cartridge Weight Range: 4-10g Well, basically after I zeroed the counterweight the tonearm wouldn't...- reaqter

Got a Sony PS-3300 yesterday! Needle kept hopping grooves and I only got left speaker sound so I readjusted the weight thing, zeroed and went for what I think is probably a real general 6-11g. Went to VE and 4-10g is recommended by Sony in the manual. However, two problems: I didn't do it with...- reaqter

Jjacq, Nice pic. My cousin songwrites for kpop. I just read something about RF interference. Some guy was near a radio tower and couldn't get away from the hum it was causing in his preamp, and at certain points in his room it was louder than the music. He wrapped it in tin foil or...- reaqter

You probably should try the gauge to make sure you don't destroy your records and your turntable plays correctly. Or you can just take it into the shop for calibration. The other two are helpful if you live in a dust bin or buy used records.- reaqter

Kenwood KD 2070 vs Technics SL BD20D- Need help picking
Interesting. Just earlier this week I was deciding between a Kenwood KD-3070 and a Technics SL-BD22. Apparently most people go for a Technics, but I've read that the Kenwood tables are solid too. The BD-20/22 are on memepool's list of great budget TTs, while for Kenwood he only mentions...- reaqter
