How does the HIFIMAN EXPRESS HM-101 DAC sound? Not the amp!
I bought it, own it, and am using now. It is too warm for my tastes. This is line-out to my cmoy to my ER-4S. The low end is too loud and distracting for me now. In some of my music, the bassist is given too much attention, when the saxophonist is supposed to be the center of attention...- vYu223

How does the HIFIMAN EXPRESS HM-101 DAC sound? Not the amp!
I've read reviews on the HM-101 describing it as sounding "warm", and "not analytical or cold". The thing is, the reviews didn't specify those characteristics as being attributed to the DAC+AMP, or just the DAC itself. Is the HM-101 DAC "warm" sounding? Or is it the combination of the DAC and...- vYu223

How long can I wait after soldering to clean the flux off the board before any damage occurs? (RA flux)
I'll have to wait another two days for the last two parts to come in, but I'd like to start soldering now. I'm using 63/37 solder (RA flux, 2.2% flux), and I was wondering how long after soldering can I wait without cleaning the board before damage occurs? I'm pretty sure the "A" in "RA flux"...- vYu223

γ1 gamma1 Full++ (F) panel drilling template (in PDF format)?
On the amb website, only the Full configuration (A) has a panel drilling template in PDF format. I'm building the Full++ configuration (uses Box Enclosure B2-080), and from what I can see, my only resources are the .png images and the dimensions chart that provides all of the lengths and radii...- vYu223

Best IEM Holder/Case?
Hmm, never thought of using silica packs... Well, I live in San Jose, CA and the temperature and humidity don't fluctuate much at all. Also, I never open the case if I'm in a situation where I wouldn't use my dslr camera (water, moisture, sudden temperature change, etc.) Also, for me, it... -
Best IEM Holder/Case?
Whoa. I was thinking of a reply when I was reading the title of this thread before I clicked on it, and it seems that you already mentioned it in the first post. I'm using custom molds with my ER-4S, and I'm able to fit them in my otterbox 1000 waterproof hardcase. The case gives me great piece... -
Driving with Headphones
Quote: My point was that you CAN'T have the music loud enough to drown out road noise, with or without IEMs. I actually strongly DISCOURAGED turning the music up loud enough to drown out road noise, stating that it would cause noise induced hearing loss. I don't use IEMs for sound...- vYu223

Driving with Headphones
Quote: If you're not alone, you can still keep your IEMs in, keep the music off and talk with any passenger(s). The road noise will force the passengers to raise their voices loud enough to penetrate the IEMs. Conversation will not be a problem. If he/she/they fall asleep, turn the...- vYu223

Gasp! A thread where sound quality is not of concern! Need suggestions for isolation, durability, and convenience.
A family member is looking for a set of isolating headphones that meet the following requirements, in order of importance: Isolate well - She wants to use her headphones in loud environments. Budget: Must be under $40 U.S. She will mistreat them. Spending too much money would be...- vYu223

Do you submit your headphone photography to Amazon's product pages?
I know that a lot of you head-fi'ers enjoy photography. Do you submit photos of your headphones to Amazon's product pages? And does anyone ever look at them? Lol. For example, here's my photo of a pair of KSC-75's that I uploaded to Amazon...- vYu223

Driving with Headphones
Emergency sounds on the road are REALLY, REALLY LOUD. IEM's can only block about 30dB. If car horns or other emergency sirens were only 30dB, then the argument that IEM's are less safe than car stereos would be valid. Hearing protection can only offer so much isolation. It can easily...- vYu223

Driving with Headphones
Sorry, I was too lazy to come up with my own explanation this time, so I grabbed a quote from Wikipedia: Quote: maverickronin and adktitan (and also a few others) are using sound logic. They aren't reaching for the phrase, "Think of the children!" And for that, I am glad.- vYu223

Driving with Headphones
Hehe, in this thread, you can tell who's using logic, and who's using emotions. It's hilarious. In my everyday commute to school, I drive without music. WHY, DO YOU ASK? I'll explain. The road noise from the freeway is loud in my toyota camry '98. If I turn on the radio, and turn the...- vYu223

Whoa! I can almost see some borderline bashing/flaming in some parts of this thread. It's best to keep it nice - we can be respectful and, at the same time, informative. Don't want to give head-fi a bad reputation, where people would think we're snobby and inconsiderate of others' feelings...- vYu223

Save your ears! Review of Etymotic ER-15 Musicians earplugs
Not just comfort, though. Any musician whose sound source comes from the head or near the head hears their own sound as distorted. For example, if you don't have plugs or anything in your ears, and you use your fingers to plug your ears, try saying something vocally - you will hear a weird...- vYu223
