I'm just about to pull the trigger on these, but need help picking out a DAC/Amp for $250 or less. Anyone have any recommendations? Currently leaning towards the Fiio E17.- AndyTheDrifter

iBasso D7 vs Audioengine D1 vs?<200$
Bumping this as well. Also looking at the Fiio E17. Edit: Steve Guttenberg of CNET likes the E17, and even the E10, better than the Audioengine D1. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-57381659-47/fiios-tiny-and-extraordinary-sounding-headphone-amplifiers/ Quote: Take it FWIW.- AndyTheDrifter

Confused novice here, buying my first DAC+full-sized headphones for PC music listening, need advice.
Hey, man, thanks for the reply. I started another thread in the Headphones section (http://www.head-fi.org/t/606557/best-300-headphones-for-music-listening), and received some help there. Will probably be picking up the HiFiMan HE-400s and a DAC like the Audioengine D1. My budget is $550ish, but...- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
I already use foobar2000. Couldn't live without it. =P Although I don't use any special plug-ins at the moment. Thanks for the tips though, I'll be sure to use WASAPI when I get my DAC!- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm not ready to order quite yet, but will be within a week (I'm actually preparing to buy/build a PC simultaneously. This is actually going to be expensive, but my PC is nine years old, and my audio equipment is five, so yeah). I will be sure to post my...- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
All right, I've thought about it some more and just might bite the bullet and order the HE-400s using the code. Here's the part where I reveal my lack of knowledge. I'm looking to buy the Audioengine D1 DAC USB to go along with it. ...- AndyTheDrifter

Found it. http://www.head-fi.org/t/586885/new-hifiman-headphone-he-400-is-out/1365#post_8320720 Unfortunately, it seems that if you use the code you lose the right to return the item during the 14-day window...- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
Quote: The fact that the HE-400s have planar magnetic technology while the D5K doesn't is definitely something to consider. I've only managed to find one review that compare the two directly (http://www.head-fi.org/t/586885/new-hifiman-headphone-he-400-is-out/555#post_8088463)...- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
Thanks for the all of the advice guys. Great community here. While I have not decided on either the HE-400 or D5Ks yet, I assume it's pretty much a matter of personal taste, they're essentially equivalent and I'm unlikely to be disappointed in either one. That being said, I have to admit, the...- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
Okay. I think I am prepared to extend my budget to $400-$450. I figure I may as well go all-out and get me something really nice that will last me a long time. I am strongly considering either the Denon AH-D5000s or the HiFiMan HE-400s. Couple things: -I would probably be getting the...- AndyTheDrifter

Best $300~ headphones for music listening?
Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting a pair of full-sized headphones for the first time. They would be used to listen to FLAC music on my PC. I would probably be using them in conjunction with an external USB DAC like the Audioengine D1. They would be for home use exclusively, so I think I...- AndyTheDrifter

Confused novice here, buying my first DAC+full-sized headphones for PC music listening, need advice.
Hey guys. I'm seeking advice on how to build a decent setup for listening to music on my PC, specifically FLAC files. Because this is a bit of an open-ended question, I was not sure if I should post this here or in the headphones forum, so my apologies if I chose wrongly. Since 2007, I...- AndyTheDrifter
