IMHO: Vegans f*ck up bass impact versus Leather/Pleather, full stop. They do create cleaner more defined bass than stock imho, but they def mess with the impact. If you really want slam, I'm inclined to think a leather or alternate pleather pad would be better suited in my listening experiments...- MrTie84

Though seem to reduce the height or the measured orthowall more so than most pads(Vegan included), I just don't like what they do to the HF.- MrTie84

@Tullebukk I have had the older cowhide and Pleather ZMF pads for testing, and they actually are a closer fit to the stock pad than the vegan which is a little TOO large. I didn't find either of them really worth using though. ZMF Cowhide and stock damping. ZMF Pleather and stock damping.- MrTie84

Mostly 2.5mm connectors instead of mmcx, they slapped more stain/sealant on the wood, included a garbage 1/4th adapter.- MrTie84

+1 to this, Audeze knew what it was doing using an adhesive ring to give such a good seal to their pads. I literally didn't even use the rings on my Hifiman cans in the past because they just sound better with an adhesive seal.- MrTie84

Yup, I am currently using a very early LCD2 leather pad that a friend sent me, and honestly I really really like, unfortunately I'm unsure if the new LCD2 pads would measure or sound the same. RED=Stock, PEACH=Vegan, BLUE=LCD2 leather, YELLOW=LCD2+damping changes.- MrTie84

Orthowalls typically are not audible, I don't actually think the visible orthowall on the measurement is what we are annoyed by I think it's the HUGE spike right before it. Paper towel will not fix this, it's a problem with the stock pad design if you take a look at the response of only changing...- MrTie84

Try adding some additional damping material(Paper Towel/napkin/toilet pape)r on the rear side of drive alongside the foam to bring the highs back up a bit. I'm torn on if i want to order the Velour or the Hybrid to measure/try.- MrTie84

@Terja Pretty much any restrictive/reflective damping on the back wave of the driver is going to lower the stocks mid-range bloat and raise the highs, what you use will effect how much and to a lessor degree which frequency range. Glad you are enjoying it, I cannot personally keep the stock pads...- MrTie84

I keep going back and forth, but my gut says when we elevate treble region on this driver too much it sounds harsh to my ears. I hate the over ripe mids and 4.5khz spike aggravation that the stock pad gives, but I'm not totally in love with the treble presentation or effect on Bass impact(not...- MrTie84

Quick correction @macky112 , the Angled Pleather HM5 does not smooth out the treble much without more damping than stock. What I found in listening was that seems promising to me is more impact bass and a sense of liveliness in the treble. Which may to due to better sealing and internal...- MrTie84
