They are still selling the 430HA minus the DAC for $4200 US. The DAC is a stripped down 280 which in its own retails for $3900 US. I still rely on mine as a primary review unit for solid state. Great piece!

S6 is a tube roller. Also an SET. Both are strong with my HD 800's. The S6 is the best pairing with the HD800's I have heard. Incredible space.

CAD 300 SEI has a more rounded tonality. The SET vs Class AB Push Pull. The 80 is more direct. Both are wonderful presentations. They are just different from each other.

I swapped the SLI-80 for it. I still love the SLI-80. The 300 is a different experience. Basically I wish I had the shelf space for both.

Liquid Fire and Liquid Gold probably my two favorites of his. They were all wonderful.

I also prefer the original earpads. Had mine for many years and they just work.

I prefer lo gain with the HD800's at 300Ohm they don't require more push to give me the sound I enjoy.

The original HD 800 is still world class. I doubt you will be disappointed by any version.

I prefer the spaciousness of the HD800 presentation.

I have been a fan of the SLI-80 headphone output for a long time. A simple and elegant solution for both speakers and headphones. Love that I can swap between Triode and ultralinear mode.

Mine are not modded. They sound great with the ALO Audio Studio 6 SET tube amp running through m y Moon 430HAD's Dac.

The original HD800 is still my goto.

The Studio Six is still top tier, but I am not sure if it is still available. ALO Audio has shifted to primarily in ear monitors with their Campfire Audio line. ifi has some great affordable amps, Headamp is building wonderful SS and tube gear. Some brands like Cary Audio have amps that are...

Vinnie has made big strides since then. Plus there are several new amp technologies like the GaN Class D's to try. Use this as an opportunity to see wat is out there.

Best thing is to get to a meet or a dealer and try some of the new chips to see what your preferences are.
