Inline mic for SE530?
I don't know about the PTH unit -- I thought iPhone compatibility was the whole point, but maybe I'm mistaken. Either of these should work though: SmartTalk Inline Microphone for existing earphones for use with the iPhone Music Phone Adapter MPA-3C for iPhone and Razr V3i- Richard Berg

An analytical, balanced IEM with good treble/clarity ?
HF5 microphonics are supposed to be improved from the ER-4 with similar sound signature. Not sure how much, though.- Richard Berg

Guide me to $150-300 IEMs based on my past experience
Sounds like I'm down to the Audéo PFE or SE530-PTH. As good as Etymotic was 10 years ago, seems like they haven't significantly improved their known shortcomings (ergonomics, bass). Now that there's a thriving aftermarket in IEM tips, I'm sure I can find a solution that offers sufficient...- Richard Berg

Guide me to $150-300 IEMs based on my past experience
I assume the UM3x issue is lack of iPhone-compatible mic options? While spending $325 on IEMs that I can't talk on isn't ideal, I'd rate it as less important than the other considerations. Besides, I'm fairly sure I can gerry-rig something...- Richard Berg

Guide me to $150-300 IEMs based on my past experience
I owned a pair of ER-4S from about 1999-2002 but sold them when I stopped traveling as much. Well, circumstances change, and I'm back in the market -- and boy are there more options nowadays! Guess the much-reviled iPod Generation was a good thing for audiophiles after all Once upon a time I...- Richard Berg

My HD600s' 10th birthday
Replaced the cable about 3 years in (until I finally learned how to stop rolling over it with my office chair). Replaced the upper pads this past summer, having literally worn them down to the plastic band. Other than that, they are as good as the day I bought them 10 years ago. Probably...- Richard Berg

World of Headphones Tour: Last But Hopefully Not Least!
Still can't get in to see the pics If you can't get it to work, I'll find you a place to upload, or hell just ask where you live FWIW, I'm pretty sure duplicating a Headroom design wouldn't violate any patents (if they own any, that is). The entire point of patent law is that scientific...- Richard Berg

World of Headphones Tour: Last But Hopefully Not Least!
Well that was easy. I came here to post a "yo, whoever the dude was who brought a digicam to the Seattle event, hook me up" thread, but apparently that won't be necessary I spent a quality 4 hours listening to everything imagineable -- ok, not everything, was mostly shopping for potential...- Richard Berg

Difference btw Coaxial Digital Cable and RCA Interconnect???
1) there's more to impedance than DC resistance, though I'd hope an interconnect wouldn't be too reactive 2) pretty much all the resistance comes from the connectors, not the wire -- consider that "75 ohm" cables can be a wide variety of lengths
