I had the good luck of my friend letting me borrow his pair of 660 s for a day. I can safely say i wont be selling my 650 any time soon. The 660 s is as great sounding headphone the sound is tighter than the 650 and sound stage is wider. I don't feel there is more bass just tighter and more...

And I would like to add more expensive. so i would expect them to sound better.

I have tried a lot of headphones in the 500 dollar and under price range. And i still haven't found any yet that can do as many types of music as well as the 650's.

I just pulled the trigger  on a pair of 650s after having sold my old ones a while back. I should have listend to people back then when they said I would get them again. I have tried a dozen different types of cans since then and still cant find one that to my ears sounds as good with all types...

I have had mine for 3 years. And with care putting them back in the box after listening to them they are still like new.

I have owned my 650s for 3 years now . I have listened to more headphones than I can remember and have yet to find one that has made me want to sell mine and buy them.

I agree I too am staying with the HD650 as end game cans. I have tried a lot of headphones in the 500 dollar range and can find none that beat the 650. it just does everything so well all kinds of music styles. I really believe that I would have to go into the 1000 dollar range to find better.

I am using the headphone jack on my Onkyo TX - 8255 it drive the HD 650s perfectly. It sounds great really lets me enjoy the music.

That's why I own them they are the only cans I can pretty much fix myself.

I have heard  both with the HD 650s and I don't think the crack + speedball is significantly better than the lyr. In fact I think they sound pretty close this was with stock tubes in both.  

I really don't think Bottelhead could make enough of an improvement to justify triple the price of these headphones. I mean you can get them for 30.00 bucks on Amazon.

I listen to Prog Metal and it sounds kicka** on the 650,s driven by the Asguard V1.

I have the Asguard V.1 and the 650 I listen to prog metal and modern jazz out of a cd player and it keeps me happy.

  Yes the dac is pretty good you can just get the amp now. Your choice of amp depends on the sound you are looking for.
