Open backed headphones recommendation - Would prefer no amp.
I've been doing some reading lately and figure that if my HM5 are going to hold me over for closed, I might as well take a step up for open cans. Specifically I've had my eye on the HE-300 and HE-400. Anybody have any input as far as how those are? I read that they're "dark" but I don't...- jon08192

Open backed headphones recommendation - Would prefer no amp.
I hear good things about sound quality from those. Are they comfortable?- jon08192

Open backed headphones recommendation - Would prefer no amp.
I'm looking to buy a pair of open backed cans probably around 150 with a bit of leeway for price. I'd like to be able to use them on a laptop so preferably no amp necessary. I also would like them to be pretty comfortable ( I have the Brainwavz HM5 and I can wear them for hours). Any...- jon08192

Looking for Closed, Circumaural, amp-optional headphones under 300
If you checked the sticky, I assume you saw the Fischer Fa-003/Branwavz Hm-5? That's the set I own now and while it's a tad below your price range ($150 ish) it's excellent. To give you an idea of the bass, I own the RE-0 IEM's which people complain about being bass light and I love them. The...- jon08192

Pyle E7 (Fiio OEM) vs. E11/E10 combo.
THank you very much. You've been extremely helpful and I think I've made a decision to go with the E17 when I choose to upgrade. First, I'm going to let the HM5 come in and see if I like it w/out an amp. Post that, I'll decide when my wallet and my ears are ready for an upgrade. I appreciate it!- jon08192

Pyle E7 (Fiio OEM) vs. E11/E10 combo.
Now here's an interesting question for a lower cost... What would be the difference between the Fiio D3/E11 combo vs. just a standalone E17?- jon08192

Pyle E7 (Fiio OEM) vs. E11/E10 combo.
I have RE0 IEM's, but I've just preordered a Brainwavz HM5 which is a fullsize headphone (Fischer Fa - 003 remake). Also, isn't the E17 expensive and a little higher end? I'd get it, but I figured the price wouldn't be worth looking at. :O EDIT: My God, I'm uninformed. Fiio E17...- jon08192

Pyle E7 (Fiio OEM) vs. E11/E10 combo.
So I own a RE0 IEM set and I just preordered a Brainwavz HM5. I'm now looking into ampage for them (not that I'm going to necessarily by them right away, but I'm thinking ahead). Right now I have a Fiio E1 line out cable for my iPod Classic and a Realtek HD Sound driver in my laptop. I...- jon08192

Headphones with detachable cables... ~$100
Ultrasones (DJ1 & PRO series have detachable cords) PRO 550 - I haven't really looked at these much, but I'll take a peek. Brainwavz HM5 - I thought these were quite bass heavy? AKG K271 MKII - Not heard much AKG K240 MKII - Looked at a little Shure SRH750 - Haven't heard of AT ALL...- jon08192

Headphones with detachable cables... ~$100
So I'm looking for a ~$100 over the ear headphone that sounds good, isn't overpowering in the bass region (But I have and enjoy RE0 earbuds so consider that something bass heavy would be maybe too much). I was first considering the Superlux 668B but I heard about others such as the KRK...- jon08192

Numark PHX Pro
Thoughts? Comparisons to the Superlux 668B? The CAL!? Shure SRH440? Anything bad about it? I've just stumbled upon these and they seem like a great low budget alternative for someone like me who doesn't have much money but wants a nice phone for home use. SOrry for all the questions...- jon08192

Shure SRH-440 vs. CAL!'s
So I've recently decided that instead of the SUperlux 668B, I might consider going with one of these two full size phones. Which of them would you recommend me? I've searched, but people have conflicting opinions on these two. I'll be listening to 320 kbp mp3s and FLAC's on my iPod...- jon08192

Superlux HD668B vs. next price tier.
So I know the Superlux is highly touted especially after some burn-in, but I want to know if I go ahead and spend $100 or even $150, how much of an improvement will I get over the Superlux if I'm looking for a good phone to complement RE0 IEM's and that will be able to somewhat match their...- jon08192

CAL! Vs. Superlux 668B
Ok thanks for the info. I was planning on doing the sock mod to the earpieces of the SUperlux anyway so comfort hopefully won't be an issue. As far as the rest goes, I guess it's looking like the Superlux is the way to go. Thanks!- jon08192

CAL! Vs. Superlux 668B
So I've heard that the CAL! is better quality, sound wise. Is there anything I need to take into account if I'm listening to genre's like indie, electronic, at the moment? I listen to just about everything but lately I've had a heavy emphasis on those two genres. I've heard that the Superlux...- jon08192

Superlux HD 668B vs. Fostex T50RP
Excuse me? You must be a wizard. Not only do I play music over my notebook when I'm not on my iPod, I use an ASUS computer... Weird.... Mind link? Thanks though. I'll look into it!- jon08192

Superlux HD 668B vs. Fostex T50RP
I appreciate the response! This is the most helpful thread I've ever been in haha. Last question, I don't use a DAC with my computer. If I buy a cheapo DAC like the HM 101, will that be sufficient? Or is this another thing that I simply don't need?- jon08192

Superlux HD 668B vs. Fostex T50RP
Holy wow. Thanks for all the responses, you guys. I'm extremely appreciative. I was thinking about buying the E7 just as a dac/possible amp if the Superlux if it was necessary but since you've said that, I'll skip it. As far as the E1, I already have it and just use it as an iPod line...- jon08192

Superlux HD 668B vs. Fostex T50RP
So I was on the border of pulling the trigger on a pair of HD 668B's since they seem to be everything I'd like in a set of full size cans, but now the Fostex have come to my attention. Has anyone done a direct comparison of these? And also, exactly how much sound leak will there...- jon08192

Superlux HD-668 B
That's good to hear. Do you happen to know how they stack up to RE0 IEMs? I know it's kind of a different animal, but I'm just talking about sound signature, clarity, and detail. I just tried out a friend's full size cans that are similar price to the HD668B's and my RE0's blew them out of...- jon08192
