B&W P9 vs Denon AH-D7200 - opinions/alternatives?
Thanks - spending money isn't the objective so if I can get something as 'good' as those 2 for less I am happy to do that. I appreciate the recommendation as actually hadn't heard of the Meze 99 so will do some reading about them. Anyone any other recommendations or thoughts on the...- Rocker UK

B&W P9 vs Denon AH-D7200 - opinions/alternatives?
Hi I am looking for a new set of closed-back headphones for late-night listening via my smartphone with a Dragonfly Cobalt. I mainly listen to rock but also some ambient and female vocals and use a combination of stored 16/44 and 24/96 FLAC along with Tidal Masters. I have a pair of the...- Rocker UK

Grado GH2 vs RS2e vs SR325e
Yes I did have the 325e and, as mentioned, they just were not for me at all. I hadn't tried the previous versions and suspect I may be one of the types of people you mention who simply don't have the right head tuning for Grado headphones :). I spent some time with them through a Meridian Prime...- Rocker UK

Grado GH2 vs RS2e vs SR325e
I did. I found them to be lacking in pretty much every area, to be honest, particularly the bass. Maybe I should have expected that but not to the degree I experienced. They just sounded far too 'thin' and didn't convey any kind of excitement into the music.- Rocker UK

Grado GH2 vs RS2e vs SR325e
Hi I chose the 325 and absolutely hated them so sent them back. Since then I have really hesitated whether to go for another set of Grados for fear that the RS series will give the same problem.- Rocker UK

Grado GH2 vs RS2e vs SR325e
Thank you for your reply that's really useful. I actually hadn't considered the 225's at all and am really torn whether to go for another one of the Prestige models or to go RS or GH. Wish I could hear them side by side. Any more views please?- Rocker UK

Grado GH2 vs RS2e vs SR325e
I would like a set of Grado headphones having previously tried the SR80e and being quite impressed. I don't have anywhere to try them so I'd be buying blind really but have arrowed it down to the following 3: GH2 RS2e SR325e I listen to a lot of music genres, everything from Classic Rock to...- Rocker UK

Shure SRH1840 vs Grado
I have always been a fan of Shure headphones and love the SRH1540 that I have. They are one of 2 closed back designs I have with Denons. I have always yearned for a set of open back Shures and am contemplating the SRH1840 but they are quite a lot of money to buy blind. I have a set of Grado...- Rocker UK

Meridian Prime Headphone Amplifier Review
I am very tempted to buy one of these but am a bit confused by some of the technology so hope someone can help me: 1 - If I connect the Prime to my iMac via the USB connection am I using the DAC and amp in the Prime or are there settings I need to adjust to do this? 2 - Does the USB connection...- Rocker UK

Denon AH-7200
Thanks guys it makes interesting reading. The AHD-7000 have been my go to headphone for the past 5 years or so and I have never been disappointed listening to you. My plan was to have a high class closed (7000) and open (Beyer T1) and be satisfied but the 7200 has my curiosity; particularly as...- Rocker UK

Denon AH-7200
I must have been under a rock for a while as I only just stumbled across this thread and now it's distracted me for the whole day. I still have a mint pair of the AHD-7000's which I still love to this day. Apologies if this has been asked before in this thread (can't read 78 pages) but how do...- Rocker UK

Rock Jaw Alfa Genus V2 vs Sony MDR EX650AP
Well, after a virtual whole 2 days trawling the forums and reviews I decided to go with the Flare Audio R2S's. I was absolutely torn between the R2A, R2S and R2 Pro but in the end just couldn't justify spending £200 on something I have never heard and there were a number of reviews really clear...- Rocker UK

Rock Jaw Alfa Genus V2 vs Sony MDR EX650AP
Wow - the Flare stuff looks the business and I REALLY want to push the button on the R2S or the R2PRO but am really hesitating with cost though they are probably the only IEMs I will ever need! I'll sleep on it. Another couple I have looked at are the Fidue A65 and A73 - they are more in...- Rocker UK

Rock Jaw Alfa Genus V2 vs Sony MDR EX650AP
Thanks - that's actually the only negative review I have read of them to be honest but I take it seriously. I've started to look at the XBA-H1 as an alternative but know nothing of them either . Maybe I can ask a different question - what would be a good set of IEM's for around £75 GBP for...- Rocker UK

Rock Jaw Alfa Genus V2 vs Sony MDR EX650AP
Hi I am looking to buy a new set of IEM's for when I travel and commute. They need to be comfortable and have a good bass signature for a lot of rock music. I had spotted the 2 models mentioned in the title and can't decide between them as they both get great reviews and are roughly at the...- Rocker UK

From Sennheiser HD 650 to HiFiMAN HE-400i... there's no way back!
Great review and I am seriously considering both the HE-400i and the Burson Soloist SL. Would you mind telling me exactly how you use the Soloist with an iMac as, far as I can see, the Soloist only has RCA inputs so I am just curious what cable I would need to connect the two components up? ...- Rocker UK

Meridian Explorer² Impressions Thread
I have been thinking about DACs for a while as I use both an iMac and MacBook Pro. I was considering the Meridian Explorer 2 for the MB and the Fostex HP-A4 for the iMac. I have a couple of questions: 1 - Is the ME2 good enough to use with both meaning that I wouldn't need the Fostex? ...- Rocker UK

Planars for Rock & Prog?
Thanks guys really helpful. I hadn't actually considered the Audeze cans as had always assumed that they were out of my range. I will struggle to demo any of them though so it may be a bit of a shot in the dark. In the UK the Oppo PM3 gets absolutely rave reviews - any views on those over...- Rocker UK

Planars for Rock & Prog?
I have a few pairs of dynamic driver headphones in the Denon AH-D7000, Shure SRH-1540 and Beyer DT990 so 1 open 2 closed and I love them all. However I have been toying with the idea of adding a further high end pair, probably open back to balance things up. I have been considering a few...- Rocker UK

Advice on amp for high and low impedance headphones
Thanks to all who posted and helped - appreciated. On balance I have today taken the plunge and ordered the NJC Monitor II. Everything I have read about it has been positive and it's half the price of the Graham Slee. I am buying blind but that's the risk you take however I am actually...- Rocker UK

Advice on amp for high and low impedance headphones
That does look excellent and I like everything about it. Great for me also being in the UK. The only thing I am concerned about is the 'neutral' signature as I listen to a lot of rock music and do like bass to be present fully though controlled. A good example is that I love the bass on...- Rocker UK
