    Sennheiser IE800 IEM's

Does anyone know if the IE800s with 4.4 pentaconn cable will offer enough of an improvement over the original IE800 with standard 3.5mm? I have a Sony NWZ-X300 Walkman which has both 3.5mm and 4.4mm balanced output so I'm keen to utilise the 4.4mm but with £400 price difference between IE800...

    HD-650 burn-in?

Thanks for that, I devolved from 'modern digital players' some time ago and went back to cassettes and CDs, both make me much happier! Also, I actually enjoyed the process of living with them and burning them in for a few weeks and hearing them really come to life.

I don't know, never heard of those!

    HD-650 burn-in?

Hi, this post was a while ago but I remember it well, the 650's took over 100 hours of use before they improved but when they did, wow! They were brilliant, the best headphones I ever had. I changed them for AKG K550 a few months after this and have regretted since! I'll be getting another pair...

    Pioneer N-50 won't find music...

Oh, either I'm on the wrong forum, no one else here has an N-50 or erm...I'd better call Pioneer tech support!

    Pioneer N-50 won't find music...

Hi,   Really hoping someone can help me, I've just bought a Pioneer N-50 network player and 3 hours after unboxing can not get it to find the music files on my mac!  I've attached it to my router with an ethernet cable and the mac is also connected to the router by ethernet, I expected the...

    HD-650 burn-in?

This sounds exactly the same as my experience with them.   I wonder if Connnorrrs' HD650's had been burnt in at the factory or maybe had been demoed in the shop before he got hold of them? Perhaps Sennheiser burn in some at factory and not others to get us all talking about it!?  ...

    HD-650 burn-in?

Honestly, give at least a month of regular listening, they will be different headphones. I wouldn't give mine up for anything now.

    Best Music For Headphone Listening?

Thanks, good to hear I'm not just imagining that 'fluff' on Noels vocal!    I'm a massive fan of the Quincy Jones/Michael Jackson albums Off the Wall and Thriller but never liked Bad or anything else after this really, sorry (and sorry Michael R.I.P.) For the record, Don't Stop Till You Get...

    HD-650 burn-in?

Final post regarding the HD650's, they sound fantastic, brilliant in all departments and possibly the best audio quality I've ever experienced, it takes yonks for them to get there but well worth the wait.

Got to love Floyd! I have Darkside on Super Audio CD but I don't have a SA disc spinner so looking forward to taking this to another level one day!

    HD-650 burn-in?

Exactly, 'lumped together' is a good description, everything was sort of in the middle, then it started to open up. Now they sound great, after about 6 weeks of use!    Someone posted that they are called 650 because that's how many hours they take to burn in, honestly, that is fairly...

Dedicated Head Amps vs. Cheap Old Marantz Integrated

Surely $150 would cover the extra costs of transportation you mention? It can't cost that much more, how do they sell big cheap amps like the Marantz PM5004 for example for $200?  Anyway, considering the Dacmagic costs £230 ($300?) and is considered by many to sound as good as a £1000 CD...

Dedicated Head Amps vs. Cheap Old Marantz Integrated

And size of the thing is another issue for me as you mention, personally I much prefer a full width 430-440mm amplifier visually, It's quite frustrating for me that most headphone amps and DAC's are 'half width' or something else other than 'full width' because my whole AV rig is built into an...

Dedicated Head Amps vs. Cheap Old Marantz Integrated

Thanks for the reply, I had started to wonder if I'd offended the entire head-fi community with my suggestion that their fancy headphone amps are no better than an old intergrated!    I think it's an interesting issue, I don't have any real knowledge of what's inside the boxes I've bought...

Denon AH-D2000 - worth the risk?? HELP!

I loved my Denon AH-D2000's, smoother sound than my current Sennheiser HD650, great bass, beautifully finished and designed, you won't be disappointed.

    Best Music For Headphone Listening?

Additionally, regarding the 'Noel Gallaghers' High Flying Birds' album I mentioned previously, I have given it a few more spins and listened carefully, Could someone listen to the track 'AKA What A Life' and tell me if there is a real nasty distortion on the vocal? especially in the right...

    Best Music For Headphone Listening?

I borrowed a Pendulum album from my brother, sounds 'clean' enough but not quite what I'm looking for when I want to chill and have a mellow listen!  Anything less likely to induce a nose bleed?   Tarantulas' a great track though!

Dedicated Head Amps vs. Cheap Old Marantz Integrated

I am a fairly new head-fier (although I've owned a pair of over ear headphones for as long as I can remember) and I'm probably better described as a budget audiophile.   I have the Sennheiser HD650 headphone and my source is a MacMini (WAV files in iTunes) feeding a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic...

    HD-650 burn-in?

HD-650 update for anyone interested... it's now been a month since I got the HD650's and they have been used on average about 5 hours a day in that time so I imagine that they are now fully burned in.   As the original thread was simply regarding the HD650 burn in, I will conclude that the...

Mac OS X Music Players - alternatives to iTunes

I installed Bitperfect following a recommendation from someone on this forum, personally I can't hear any difference in sound quality and if I skip a track it starts to stutter and sometimes just gets stuck. I've disabled it now. No real complaints for £3 but I thought I'd share that.

This looks interesting, thanks. I'm not sure if I can play FLAC with iTunes though (?)
