Pioneer N-50 won't find music...

Hi,
 
Really hoping someone can help me, I've just bought a Pioneer N-50 network player and 3 hours after unboxing can not get it to find the music files on my mac! 
I've attached it to my router with an ethernet cable and the mac is also connected to the router by ethernet, I expected the N-50 to just go and find the music as I had set up was childs play...perhaps the N-50 is faulty or I'm doing something wrong?
I've looked at the manual but I'm baffled frankly, I'm not a computer person really so I could really use some help from someone who has an N-50, thanks in advance.

Oh, either I'm on the wrong forum, no one else here has an N-50 or erm...I'd better call Pioneer tech support!

You need to have an active DLNA or UPNP server running on your Mac to be able to access your music using the Pioneer N-50. Without a server running on the Mac to "share" your music, there's no way for the Pioneer to be able to see your music library as it is scanning your network looking for a DLNA or UPNP server to access. Some common software recommended for Mac is MinimServer or Serviio . You will need to download and install this software, and tell the software where your music library is located on your Mac. Once the music library is built, then you have a better chance of seeing it on the Pioneer. Your Mac will need to be on whenever you want to listen to music on the Pioneer, as when the Mac is off, the server will be off and the Pioneer will not be able to see it.
