Sounds like I'll probably get the Etys then. I know even if I try out others cans I'll eventually end up the them since as the consensus is that they are the best for the ipod. Might as well go straight for the best. Probably have to sell the beyer 250-80's to finance the purchase.

Just recevied a 10 gig ipod. Didn't even bother to open the included headphones. Instead I'm using them with Beyer 250-80 and Koss KSC35 cans. Are there other headphones I should be looking at. I guess the logical choice would be the Ety's 4p. However I'm worried how they would sound unamped...

I have 2 more tubes to try out and will finish them tonight. I will ship out the THSP tomorrow or by the very latest Wednesday. I've been busy lately and its taking longer than I expected to test these tubes with the warm up time required and all.

I use the HD600 with the Head. When listening to classical I prefer the transformer mode with feedback on. When listening to vocals, rock music I use the OTL mode. I find that in OTL mode that bass is somethings too heavy and the top end is somewhat less detailed.

IMO the Senn HD580/600 sound decent driven directly from the SB Audigy. There was more than adequate volume, albeit sounding a little thin. If I were in your shoes I would get them first and then an amp later when you have more funds.

How about the Fujitsu Lifebook Ultra small notebook. You can check it out here . It sports a 10.6" widescreen as well as a dvdrom/cd burner. Its smaller than your typical notebook.

I mirror what nearly everyone here is saying, the HD600 sound good on all kinds of music BUT they require good amplification to do so. If you compare say a grado sr60 and the hd600 straight out of the cd player, without a headphone amp, the sr60 would sound better.

If you don't need portability then I would definately go with the corda HA-1 instead of the porta corda. I prefer it slightly better than the mg head, which is a tube amp, that I also own. Though I haven't heard a PC, cmoy or meta42 I would hazard a guess that the corda would sound better.

If you plan to get the HD600 from Jan you might as well get the Corda HA-1 from him as well. He gives an added discount for both item. If you are adventures you can get the Corda HA-1 DIY kit and save even more. Do a search for comments on the Corda if you haven't done so already.
