Your experience is normal for the RAAL cans... I had exactly the same experience... but, but... I'm sure, this isn't a fault of the RAAL: NO !!! I gave a second chance to my RAAL... and now this is the best cans I had to date !!! Don't send back your RAAL, please !!!

I find my darTZeel CTH- 8550 simply a PERFECT companion for the RAAL : powerful, incredible musicality, punch... music !!! My preferred CD, jazz vocal, are simply fantastic with this setup...

I know very well Munich hiend and many others... I don't like hi efficient speakers... And I'm totally happy with my new speakers and new cans I bought few weeks ago... and now I just stay at home listening MUSIC !!!

The Børresen 01 has near the same details as the RAAL Sr1a... just near, because headphone is on the ears and speakers are in the room (even if treated...). I can compare Sr1a and Børresen 01 every day because I have both...

I have a very good treated room for a fantastic result or incredible result for my two channel system, this is not my problem... But headphones on the ears are more detailed than any speakers... Even mastering or recording studios (with perfect treated room) need headphones for their works...

Simply impossible... no one speakers have his own sound, 50% of the sound depend by the room ... not the same for headphones. I'm not speaking of hifi technology (ribbon, plasma ecc.ecc...), but real sound we can have in our houses...

I can't believe that any kind of speakers placed in a ROOM can have more details than highest headphones fitted on the ears... :relaxed:

We are speaking about Headphones... not speakers. But even with speakers... IMHO, a top quality ribbon (today) is better than other tweeter... I think generally for all kind of music... Try the new Børresen speakers, and tell me your opinion... Coming back to headphones: I had 009 Stax and many...

Try the Sr1a with a 200 watt SS amplifier, but top quality... and your Stax can stay on the desktop... IMHO
