    Shure SRH1840 and SRH1440 Unveiled!

Hopefully these are priced similarly to the SRH440 & SRH840. My 840s are probably my favorite closed headphones I own. I can't wait to hear what Shure does with open back. As long as the price isn't insanity I will certainly want a pair of the SRH1840s.

    Shure headphone help.

Shure's use their own cable connection. The coiled cord isn't as long as you'd think. I use the coiled cable on both my SRH440s and SRH840s, the extra is easily pocketable and you can swap out to the Shure straight cable if coiled isn't your thing. If you want neutral sound, comfort &...

Great, great story. Thank you for sharing. Really awesome stuff. I love my Grado SR225s, also my gateway to open back headphones.

    Best Headphones for Rush?

You'll be super happy with the SRH840. They have great detail and balance, Rush will come alive with them. Try Rush in Rio with those cans. You will enjoy yourself thoroughly.

Remastered Pink Floyd (James Guthrie)albums to be released on Sept. 27th:

I honestly couldn't tell you, it was my Dad's first. I haven't listened to it in a while, still at his place. I'm been listening to crumby MP3s before this, the CD was the best source I can remember. This blows that away.   Quote:

Remastered Pink Floyd (James Guthrie)albums to be released on Sept. 27th:

I'm listening to the new remaster of Dark Side of the Moon right now through my 840s. FLAC + 100% Cue rip. Definite fidelity upgrade from the old CD I have. Sounds fantastic. I think I'll be setting aside a chunk of time tomorrow night to listen to The Wall's new remaster. These sound fantastic...

    Best Headphones for Rush?

Having both, I'd also recommend the Shures. The HFi-580s are a little to bass heavy for Rush IMHO and the Shures will still deliver enough bass for other genres. You can't go wrong with SRH840s.   Quote:

    Question about my new SRH440

If you're looking for more bass out of your 440s, then yes that improves. It doesn't magically make them sound better across the spectrum, it just gives them a small, needed bass boost.

    Question about my new SRH440

I've not used the 940 pads, but I have the 840 pads on my 440s. They're far more comfortable, and they bring out the bass slightly on the 440s. I can't speak to how the 940 pads sound, but many people like the velour vs the pleather that is on 440/840 pads. I'd recommend the upgrade on the...

    Best Headphones for Rush?

Open isn't a bad or a good thing, it's a preference thing. Open headphones generally have a wider soundstage. However, they let sound in an out. If you are worried about bothering people in your surroundings, or you listen in a noisy environment, closed headphones would be a better option for you.

    Best Headphones for Rush?

For rock, and especially for rock that can be complex like Rush I enjoy listening to it through my Grado SR225s. They let little details shine through that I missed out on before. Really fun pair of headphones to listen to rock music through. They also have a nice bass note for other genres...

    $100-$200 range?

Mmmm, Agree. I managed to snag my SRH840s at 100 on the button shiped from Amazon used - Like New. They are by far my favorite set of headphones, followed closely by my SR225s.   Quote:

    Shure SRH840 Review

Mine were preowned, not sure how many hours of listening is on them already but I probably clocked in an additional 10 this weekend. If the sound changes I'll update my impressions.

    Shure SRH840 Review

Rather than create a new thread, as the other impression poster stated I thought I'd just throw my thoughts in here as well, this being the most recent SRH840 thread. I've had my 840s just over this weekend and had several hours to listen to them in average length sessions. My signature lists...

    My next future headphone purchase

Can't find anything online about them having bad reports for shipping and what not. Looks like you'd be okay to order there.

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

So uh, I heard you like Shures? :P I just got the SRH840s today, and I'd revise my list as follows: 1) Grado SR225s - They're uncomfortable but damn are they fun to listen to. 2) SRH840s - Every complaint I had about the 440s (Pads, Headband) disappeared and they're so much more detailed. 3)...

Need help finding comfortable headphones in ~$50 range for music and gaming.

If you watch the Amazon Used - Like New section and can stretch to 60, you can get a pair of SRH440s and they're comfortable and sound good.

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

    1) Grado SR225s 2) Ultrasone Hfi-580 3) Shure SRH440s   I've been thinking of upgrading to the SRH840s, or picking up the Fischer Audio FA-011s, or possibly the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros. Can't decide though.

    SHURE SRH440?

That seems like a high price for 440s. I paid less than that for my 440s and the extra 840 pads. Which, if you want a little additional bass the 840 pads will help bring it out some. Though the 440s are pretty neutral as far as full cans go. If you want something similar priced and bass colored...

    Grado Fan Club!

So I've had my SR225s for a week or so now and I truly love them. I went back to my Ultrasone's a couple days ago because they have my mic on them and I needed to be on skype and the whole time I found myself wanting to have the Grados on. They're just a fantastic sonic experience. I've been...

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!

Listened to "The Wall" through my new Grados this weekend. Was like listening to a whole new CD. After I read about someone else listening to it in the Grado Fan Club thread I had to try it myself. It did not disappoint.
