Primary purpose is to use with my Switch while in handheld mode. Needs to be comfortable to wear for extended periods of time (like in my bed right before I nod off). Budget of around $100. Music wise, ideally something that makes rock/punk/black metal shine as those the genres I listen to the most.

Will primarily be using them for rock and metal. The guitar having enough "edge" is super important to me, some high end over-ear HPs have disappointed me in this area in the past. Basically I need really lively treble.

Is playing my Grado SR325i HPs through my Schiit Lyr 1 (the original, without the low gain switch) risky? Can I blow them out? Or will I blow my ears out before the HPs?

Ok I'd say $200-300 though I can go over if there is a big bump in quality. Are saying almost all of them have some degree of noise isolation? This is for the workplace so ideally I want something that blocks out sound as little as possible so I can hear my colleagues. Thanks!

Yeah I guess IEMs are ok, my only concern is I've heard it's bad to wear them more than an hour a day. This will probably just be for air travel, you brought up a good point liquidzoo.

Already did :P. It still lacked what I was looking for compared to the HD595s unfortunately :(. I was thinking of experimenting with Grados, which didn't get good marks on here compared to some other stuff, but I've heard so many good things about them rock-wise.

There's a specific sound that one of my headphones gives to distorted electric guitars that I really like, but I have had difficulty identifying it by messing around with EQ. Any suggestions? I'd like to pump the frequency once I figure it out in my other headphones.

Yeah I have Grado SR325is (gold ones). About to put up my Audio-GD amp for sale which should allow me a budget of around $1500. 

Are there amps you guys could recommend that sound fantastic with more or less all Grado HPs or is the line simply too diverse for that? (newbie here)
