    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Sorry, you're right. I couldn't remember as I sent mine back for the same reason. The offending spikes are in the upper treble - brilliance range. Around 8-9khz if I remember correctly and then there is another one slightly higher but which causes less issue.

Unless you are clearly noticing a difference between left and right it's highly unlikely you have driver issues. The chances of both drivers having the same problem is pretty minimal in chance. Have you tried running a frequency sweep and checking for differences between left and right? I think...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

I think this is also related to miniscule distortions that are introduced by drivers when reproducing sound. If you could get rid of these you are delivering a more authentic representation of the original recording (hence the various approaches in speaker design). Part of the thinking of...

The problem with the K10 is they are not great at imaging. It's like sounds are just coming at you and around you; entertaining yes, but the image is just not realistic. Depends what your'e after as the instrument tonality on the K10 is preferable (although the bass is not as good). K10...

Dita Audio Flagship - "The Dream"

Have these been discontinued? Cannot find them anywhere.

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Are we sure that the Flares Pro are an open design? I'm not convinced. I know it has the hole in the back but I'm not sure that is a vent. In all my vented DD iem's when pushing the earpiece in the canal there is never any trapping of air in the canal like there is with my closed BA design...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

I'm finding that the harshness/artificial edge can 'mostly' be EQ'd out if you're happy using EQ. Some play around the 8-9khz range does it and maybe a little around the 11-12khz. Makes the sound more organic and instruments more natural but retains much of the amazing resolution and air.

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Received my Flares Pro on Monday and have been using daily since. I'm really enjoying them from a technical standpoint. The separation, imaging, speed, soundstage is very good, even in comparison to my 10 driver customs and they completely smash them in bass tuning and quality. However, where I...

    IBasso Audio IT03

Anyone know of ibasso will repair the IT03 out of warranty? And if so how much have people paid? My left earpiece has just died which is unfortunate as they've been well looked after and already been sent back in once for a channel imbalance issue. I've had them 16 months approx.

PLUSSOUND AUDIO - Introducing BLUETOOTH CUSTOM CABLES - Available for 2-PIN/CIEMs, MMCX, FitEar, Sennheiser, Audeze, and more

@B9Scrambler does your Bluetooth battery indicator actually ever show at 100% charged? Mine never shows more than 60% + I'm no way getting anywhere near 10 hours of battery. 8 at a push!

so, are the UE900 still a good IEM ?

How much have you seen them for?

so, are the UE900 still a good IEM ?

In my opinion for the price they go for, no. There are plenty Chinese options that smash them. I had UE900 for a bit then got the Fischer Amps FA4E XB which had a very similar sound signature but slightly improved in many aspects. Options from FLC, Ibasso, Orivetti, the LZ A4, Flare Audio, Dunu...

PLUSSOUND AUDIO - Introducing BLUETOOTH CUSTOM CABLES - Available for 2-PIN/CIEMs, MMCX, FitEar, Sennheiser, Audeze, and more

Picked up a Copper / Silver hybrid with MMCX. Been using it with the Ibasso IT03. I'm actually very impressed, it provides ample power and the sound is pretty clean for Bluetooth. Will post a more detailed report when I get a chance.

A slightly random question. Would the perceived loudness of a Well sealing CIEM be higher than a headphone at same SPL in a silent environment?

    IBasso Audio IT03

I'm sure it's been said before, but I never really played with EQ. The bass on these can go to ridiculous levels without distortion when pumping up them low frequencies through a decent source. Having some serious fun with these.

I really need to demo these somehow. Maybe I'll try pickup a 2nd hand pair of U3 as a tester to see what it's all about. I definitely want to go for ADEL rather than APEX though.

Wyville - what did you think of the Kumitate Lakh? Apparently this has a proprietary pressure relief system embedded too. I tried all the KL iems except the Lakh at indulgence.

ALO Ref 8 would work and is well priced. Also, if they are still available the Rhapsodio Silver Litz which was on sale for a while, it provides a more analytical window compared to a stock cable and a cleaner and tighter presentation on everything I've tried it on and increases sound stage...

This is the same problem I have except I wake up pretty much every morning with my left ear hearing dulled because of barotrauma which gradually releases during the day. I think my issue is due to a deviated septum causing excess mucus production which is causing ETD. Been to the docs about it...

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

Well, I was implementing the tube mod on the R2A when I had them which kind of transformed them more into a R2Pro type sound. This was more reliant on tightening the screws to sealing point with a rubber seal.

    FlaresPro/FlaresGold by Flare Audio

The unfortunate problem with the R2's (I prefer their tonality and presentation to the Flares Pro) is the durability. The cable WILL develop a fault as is very poor quality and there is no driver replacement unless you try to replace the cabling direct on the existing drivers - I've tried this...

What's an example of a "good DAC"?

Enjoying this thread. Makes me feel better that I bought and sold on several DAPs and DACs (Inc MOJO, FiiO X7, etc) because I couldn't notice any significant improvements (volume matched) compared to my headphone out apart from more power and less noise/hiss. This was across CIEMs, HPs and...
