V-Moda M-80 as first headphones?
Monoprice 8320 If you could go IEM route...there are many rave review about these..They look stylish enough??? AND @ only $7 wow! If you get them change the tips before you judge them, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by these babies.- popcorn

THIS NOOB GOT A HEAD-FI SHOCK (+ amp question)
I notice a background hiss on my iPhone, am I stuck with that because of the device/track or are their inexpensive attachments that can neutralize it? I remember yesteryear Dolby used to have 'noise reduction' so something inexpensive along these lines. Thank you for your help.- popcorn

I have heard that the AKG K240s are definitely not as good as the beyer DT770s Anyone back that up? Also what ohm should i go for on a headphone-all-rounder? Thanks again- popcorn

Hi, Just when I thought I had it all-sown-up just look at the list of contenders. The Beyerdynamic DT-770 has been suggested few times thanks tim3320070. AND this is a very precise version of the DT-770 32 Ohm 2005 edition in Blue (9wave NW Studio Pro Earbuds) Sony Z700...- popcorn

Wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. With all the endorsements I have got it down to 2; FA-003 & K240 It isn't that I haven't considered others (esp synnheiser range) but the overwhelming advice as the budget all-rounder points to these two. Having a pair of neutral...- popcorn

thanks for that wjd, I am so grateful for sharing with me your experiences. I have been recommended twice now the FA-003 as an alternative to the K240s. The FA-003 reviews (here on head-fi) are very compelling. Unfortunately they are not in stock anywhere at present (including UK)...- popcorn

Thanks, macrocheesium for your additional suggestions. i considered the sr60i over the sr125 as i had just came accross more rave reviews for the sr60is. Again good to hear someone else endorse the FA-003, I'd never heard of them. i am also trying to pick a decent amp to go...- popcorn
