No, in the end the second-hand Cowon D2 was bidded up to £75 and the Sony D-NE10 to £50. For that much I was able to get a brand new Sansa Clip+ and a pair of Sunset SW-Xcapes. Maybe not the best source, but a heck of a lot more portable!

CoD has pretty awful positional sound in it. I suspect a good set of headphones will be underutilised. Have you tried them in any other games? I've been using my AD700s straight out of the laptop (while waiting for my Xonar U1 to arrive) in CS1.6 and they're still noticeably better than my old ones.

I got the Logitech G35 off ebay for £40 and all I can say is thank god I only spent £40. That hunk of junk was relisted on ebay less than 3 days after purchase. Silver lining is that I made a slight profit on the resale
