    Skullcandies that are actually good?

I've owned 3 pairs of Skullcandies. Smokin Buds and Full Metal iems and a pair of Hesh cans. All 3 of them were broken after 3 months of purchase. They just fell apart so easily, some of the worst craftmanship I've ever seen. I don't know how you can see them as anything but cheap gauded up...

    Grado SR225I Mods

I found the stock bowl pads to be a little uncomfortable during extended listening periods when I first got my Sr225i. The foam has softened up quite a bit now and I find no discomfort in wearing them. Try hand washing them with fabric softener or reversing the bowls. This seems to make a change...

    Starting over from square one

Damn, that's a heartbreaking story! I have a lot of empathy for you. I got my pair of Sr225is for 200 dollars online. Maybe you could look into one of the Allesandro Grado models? It might be nice to start over with a similar but different can.

Xonar Essence STX driving a 600 ohm Beyer?

Hi, quick question..   I'm looking at getting either a pair of Beyerdynamics as my next cans. I've narrowed it down between the DT880s and the DT990s, both the 600 ohm version (hopefully.) I realize the headphone amp in my card is nothing really special but it has a super high gain setting...

    Listening in the dark

I always attempt to actively listen to my music, especially in my room with my headphones. I hate just "having music on" as a background filler, it's pointless to me. Music is art, would you attempt to analyze and appreciate a painting by just glancing at with anything but your full attention...

To many fish in the sea what should I choose?

Agreed on the Sr60is. They are a great starting point into hi-fi headphones and will make your music sound great with or without an amp.

    Using non-audiophile headphones a sin?

If you want a good cheap introduction into audiophile quality headphones check out the Grado Sr60is or Sr80is.

Why do people like Grados so much?

Yep the inside white cloth. I just sliced the edges off very carefully with an x-acto knife and removed it, being especially careful so no small pieces of cloth would fall into the drivers. The sound is even more lively and feels a tiny bit more open. The only downside is now dust is a bit...

Why do people like Grados so much?

I love how music my Grados sound. They may not be the most neutral headphone but I always have fun listening to music with them. I vented the drivers, removed the inside grill cloth and removed the model number cap on my Sr225i and the sound only got thicker, deeper and more spacious. I'm a...

sound just like Grado SR60 but more easy on the ears?

Try the bowl pads, if your ears are anywhere near the size of the pads they will be plenty comfortable.

    The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

Either the 600 ohm DT880s or DT990s are high on the list of my 2nd audiophile headphone purchase. I really want the most natural, airy yet warm and textural sound possible. The soundstage, airyness and deep bass intrigued me. I was worried that the highs would be too fatiguing because I consider...

Do people over obsess over bass?

I like a little punchyness to the kick drum and the bass guitar in any song I'm listening to that has those respective instruments. I'm more drawn to huge, textured bass sounds in IDM music. Nothing blows me away on my headphones than an Autechre song blasted.

    Grado Newbie- Please Help?

I sometimes reverse the bowls on my Sr225is. It increases the comfort dramatically and I hardly feel them after long listening sessions.

Anybody who says Grado's don't have enough bass is silly!

I can hear it fine from my Sr225is. I've vented the drivers, removed the model number cap and used felt as a damper inside the can.

Anybody who says Grado's don't have enough bass is silly!

I loved the bass when I first got my Sr225i. Granted, they were my first entry in hifi headphones. I vented the drivers on them now and the bass is even better! Feels much deeper, richer and airy after the mod.

    Open headphones with powerful bass?

If you vent the drivers on most Grados the bass becomes phenomenal.

    Grados and Electronic music.

Am I the only one who has great results pairing the two? I'm a huge fan of Autechre, Aphex Twin, The Flashbulb, Carbon Based Lifeforms and many other IDM and Ambient artists. I love listening to them on my Sr225is. I've never thought of them as harsh, in fact, my friend's Rs2is were much harsher...

What Songs do you listen to testing the Bass thump/extention?

Oh wow, I just listened to the youtube video of the song I posted and it must be a terrible rip, (well, I should of figured it's f*cking youtube.) I have Confield, the album it's on ripped in FLAC and the bass is obviously much much much deeper and rich.

What Songs do you listen to testing the Bass thump/extention?

Quote: I agree, that's a great test for your rig's bass response.   I usually test my cans out on some Autechre tracks. Stuff like MCR Quarter has crazy deep booming bass that is tough to reproduce. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzcaWhBpeSM

I Read the Guides Now What do I Pick

I think most people wouldn't recommend 325i's for electronic music. I've heard that the aluminum caps lend to a very bright, almost harsh top end which would be very fatiguing for any type of electronic music. I would even say that most here wouldn't recommend Grados or Allesandros for electro...

The Audio Technica M50 studio monitor thread

I've suddenly become interested in buying a 2nd pair of headphones. Currently I have a pair of Grado Sr225is and I love the sound of them through my Asus Essence sound card. I stumbled upon the M50s and they look very appealing. How would the sound compare to my Grados? What does it do...
