Hello @FiiO Just wanted to report that the M11 Plus does not appear to work with Bluetooth transmitters such as the Creative BT-W3. When the device is plugged-in, the player detects it and asks for permission to access the device, but no sound is played through it. Under USB output settings...

    Topping M50 digital music player

There doesn't seem to be much discussion about this product; searching on Google leads to one discussion on ASR and another on Reddit, both with not much discourse so I thought I'd put down my initial impressions here for the benefit of those who are looking to use it as DAP. Starting with...

Do Audiophile Network Switches Make a Difference?

lol all that netsplaining about signal voltages and bits might sound a little bit convincing if the transmitted data were directly translated, raw, into the audio signal BUT - the data streamed to a music streamer from a services like Tidal, Spotify, et al is in a compressed format that still...

Honestly, that never occurred to me. Good to know.

    Sennheiser Momentum impressions thread

Hi all,   I wonder if anyone would chime in on the long term durability of the Momentum's leather earpads?   I've had the original Momentum for over two years and it has served me well on an almost nightly basis, but recently it has begun to develop small cracks in the leather pads. These...

    Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model

Hi,   Does anyone know the proper path format to use in order to get the ZX1 to properly read m3u and m3u8 files?   I've put the playlists in the Music\Playlist folder, and the Walkman reads them but does not find any of the tracks in there, and so result in 0-track playlists.   The...

Can I power an 800mA device using 1000mA?

I just got a QED uPlay Plus Stereo Bluetooth Receiver, and noted that its power supply is rated 5V 800mA. Most USB power, from wall chargers, car chargers and power banks, however, are rated 5V 1A, so I wonder if it is safe to use those to power the uPlay Plus?   Thanks in advance!

    LOD for Sony NW-ZX1?

Apologies if this has been covered before, as I have been doing a bit of searching and apparently, the only game in town is the Fiio L5?   Are there really no other options? I'm hoping for ones where the attached cable comes out from the side, or one that provides a female 1/8" plug instead?

The A7r II certainly looks tempting for its AF capabilities, BSI sensor and improved metal mount... can't wait for my regular shop here to bring them in so that I can play around with it and then tell myself I don't really need yet-another-camera, lol.

Haven't been here for a while and it looks like I didn't miss much either.   So anyone upgraded to the 5Ds or sr yet? Personally I decided to wait it out for now, as even processing 36MP is already quite slow on my dinosaur of a machine so 50MP is going to aggravate the situation even more...

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

I don't know about the other two, but the Sonnet is very easy to maintain (if that criteria is important to you). I have the cheaper version (aluminium body with gold trim), the nib and feed easily comes out with a pull. The nib is attached to the feed via a pair of tabs on each side of the...

Has anyone modified their TS-E so that both tilt and shift occur on the same axis? Instructions I found seem simple enough, but the four screws that I need to remove are very tight and I didn't want to apply too much force with my jewelers' screwdriver set for fear of leaving marks or worse...

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

It writes very smoothly, though is quite heavy on ink that bleed through sometimes becomes a problem depending on paper quality.   I also haven't figured out how to properly drain and clean this pen yet; the whole nib assembly does not come out when I pull it like my Parker pens do.

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]

Hi all, I'm usually over at The Canon Thread but I noticed you have this Pen-Fi thread going on as well... so I thought I'd pop in and show my most recent acquisition:   Apologies for the nasty finger prints though, it was just a test shot after I had acquired a new lens.   Since my...

How Do You Carry All Of Your Gear? First World Problem ;)

If weight is a concern, then yeah I'd pick a backpack. I don't think you really need a large backpack for your kind of gear, the A6000 isn't as big and weighty as a full DSLR kit. Your biggest concern would actually be the headphones -- you want something spacious enough that also offers some...

You can select the default magnification level (e.g. x2, x4, etc) when the magnify button is first pushed. However, the highest magnification level is mostly useless unless you're shooting JPG or RAW+JPG, because the image review is based on a JPG file and the embedded JPG in the RAW is not a...

On the 5D3, there are two common ways to change ISO. If press the ISO button on the top panel, you are essentially entering a different "mode". Like a separate menu system, here your only options are to change ISO or Exposure Compensation; the half-press is just to leave the present mode (and...

Only the 24 has gotten a V2 update. If I'm not mistaken, the 17 hasn't but doesn't need to as it is a very recent model. The 45 and 90 still remain their ancient, original selves.

I thought the 45mm was the worst among the four Canon TS-E lenses?   And speaking of TS-E, I just recently acquired this one:     Two test shots right after getting the lens:

From what I've read so far, sensor performance should be very similar to the 70D, which is quite good in Canon-land but still behind compared to the competition. Still, the main advantage of the 7DII would be its AF performance, which I hope they've significantly improved over the original 7D.

Great lens, definitely a step above the old 17-40. Center is sharp at all focal lengths, corners are leagues ahead of the 17-40. The IS is very handy for handheld shooting. f/11 1/13s

Got my Metabones Mk IV adapter today.     AF is dog slow, but I didn't get the adapter for that; I got it for electronic aperture control. Manual focus is still feasible, but USM does not feel as good as a mechanical manual focus lens.

Yeah, I heard about that rumor. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a sharp and impressive lens, Canon seems to be on a roll with all their new lenses, but the zoom range and price is probably not for me.   I had the 17-40L during my early crop camera years (10D), then the 16-35L (version I)...
