Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
Explain to me, once more, why it is necessary to create and sync several different libraries when I could carry said libraries on one device, all at once, and not bother with syncing? Regardless, it doesn't matter how much i have or what it is when all I get is seconds of menu-browsing before...- Veemo

Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
I don't know what bitrate my FLAC files are in, but this seems to be related to menu browsing, mostly. Last night I listened to all of "Glenn Gould, The Goldberg Variations" without a hitch, once I decided to put on another album it crashed, again showing battery at >50%- Veemo

Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
Thanks for the replies everyone, I'll be sure to ask around on the RB site. I have reinstalled RB several times, with no change. I should point out that when I say it shuts off after a short while I mean less than 2 minutes, even with nothing playing. Just earlier I listened for a few...- Veemo

Which albums sound best with your Grado?
I'm a huge Dire Straits fan, and since I got my Grados I'm going back to them more and more to listen. I think they may be once of the most nuanced rock bands, and most of their albums are recorded amazingly well. I especially love their eponymous first album "Dire Straits,' but "Making Movies"...- Veemo

Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
Well last night I queued up a ton of music in apple mode and this thing played through it no problem. at least 6 hours of music, I'm not sure cause I just left it playing in the living room while i slept. it turned off once the music was over, but there's still battery left. So to recap...- Veemo

Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
Ok, I just let it charge a while, plugged in, and listened to a whole album. Once it was finished, I looked at the player and it had about 90% battery left (guessing from graphical indicator). I started playing around with the settings, with no music playing, and after a minute or two it shut...- Veemo

Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
That's what I was afraid of, but I was curious about why the battery didnt show any change until after the thing crapped out. Rockbox displays battery information based on the actual condition of the battery, not a timer or something. Anyway, if this is the case, where is a good source for...- Veemo

Help! Rockbox kills iPod battery
I finally bought a 5.5g iPod and I'm having a problem with battery life. once it's charged it reads that the battery is fully charged but it only lasts a short time. it will continue to read "full" for a few minutes, then it will shut off without warning, and without changing the battery...- Veemo

coffee gadgets...
I started going to a coffeehouse in Portland and getting coffee made with this ugly little SOB http://www.amazon.com/ABID-CO-LTD-C-70888-Dripper/dp/B0047W70GY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1292565047&sr=8-1 I like using my pour-over at home. Christmas treat for myself
So, my Christmas bonus this year was a bit more generous than I expected, and I've decided to finally get that DAP I've been wanting. I'll be picking up some RE0's, and I'm looking at either RBing an 80gb 5.5g iPod, getting a 16GB Cowon D2 (later adding storage), or maybe going the...- Veemo

seeking good in-ear advice
Hello all! I've decided to buy some "Stick-It-In-Your-Ear" type earphones. I have only a few criteria: They'll need to be sound isolating. I'll be wearing them at work where there is a lot of noise throughout the day, though for the most part nothing extreme. I'll pop in real...- Veemo

What good are headphones that don't stay on your head?
Hello all! I have a pair of Yamaha RH5MA's and I truly enjoy their sound! The problem is that they have no grip on my head; if I don't sit very still with my head level they slide off forward or backward. I mostly use them sitting at my computer, but if I'm moving about with them plugged...- Veemo

What is up with "iPod 5G"?? What does it all mean?
Reading around here I have seen a lot of talk about the iPod 5G. I went on eBay and found some 5th generation iPod Classics at good prices, came back and saw people saying "iPod 5G", "5th Generation iPod Classic" "5G Classic" etc. as though they were different things.... now I'm confused. I am...- Veemo

DIY Amp and DAC recommendations please!
Hello everyone! As a general rule I like to DIY, not buy, my things. In my opinion this is almost always the best bang-for-your buck, especially if you enjoy building and tinkering as I do. I have built guitar effects pedals, a small guitar amp, and various other electronics, so I do have...- Veemo

Recabling DBI Pro 700
Hello! Looking around I have discovered the DBI Pro 700. They sound like something that would be good to add to the wishlist. Theres a pair on Ebay for $30 now, but before I think about them too much more I would like to know: Is there ANYTHING to be done about that huge, gaudy cable...- Veemo

Sansa Clip+ and Economy of GBs
Wow, thanks for all the help! HappyFi, I do like how the iRiver feels in the hand, like something you would want on your side in a bar fight (and something that would probably live through it), but the difference isn't something I'm too concerned with. I was thinking today about how great...- Veemo

Sansa Clip+ and Economy of GBs
Thanks for the input. Looking back on Amazon I see that there is indeed quite a difference between the 4gb and 2gb, it's another $10. I may just go with that one and put the savings of $25 from the 8gb model into a 32gb card. Can anyone address the headphone impedance question, or compare...- Veemo
