I know essentially nothing about this crap (I barely passed tech in middle school when we were soldering stuff together)   Is there a guide somewhere? How likely would it be for me to screw up the headphones trying to do this?

I was thinking of getting HD650s but was told they aren't that much better than 598s.

Where does one buy a full-size amplifier? A lot of the amps I see recommended here don't even come up with anything on google shopping.

I just want a decent midrange amplifier. Would $200 be able to get me something fairly good?

Such as that software to emit frequencies higher than can be heard by human ears and stuff like that. Is there such a thing as an audio signal which could damage the headphones playing it?

I basically just want one to make it easier to control volume on my headphones. Amplifying the bass a tad would be nice as well. The headphones if it matters are senn. HD598s.

I'm rather new to the whole audio equipment scene. I just got myself HD598 headphones and I'm not sure if I need to buy an amp for it. I always thought amps just increased volume and made bass stronger, but is there more to them? Will they actually improve audio clarity at all?

Any recommendations? Can't spend more than 100 bucks or so.

I know they're overpriced but are they actually low-quality headphones like skullcandies or something? If you had to compare them to another headphone what'd be the closest comparison?

Obviously I will not be receiving the ideal audiophile experience but I'm looking for something with pretty alright sound quality.
