Is the World Finally Realizing that Flashy Headphones like Beats and Skullcandy are not Worth it?
Before Beats and Skullcandy headphones, the average Joe/Jane thought $20 earbuds were all you needed. Thanks Apple. At least people now have been exposed to somewhat better sound through "upmarket" (to them) headphones to plug into their i-phones and Droids. It was as much a fashion statement as...- BobM

Thanks everyone. Yeah, she's got some real talent ... definitely from her mother. Unfortunately she is tone deaf, so she didn't inherit any of my musical talent. That went to my younger daughter.- BobM

Unfortunately I have no skill with a pencil, but I do have some skill with musical instruments. My family does indeed have artistic talent, so is it OK if I brag for them? Here's some of my daughter's artwork. This one is a graphic novel she is drawing for a school project (New Media Design...- BobM

Recommend a set of desktop speakers?
I was researching desktop speakers for my home computer and finally decided that I am paying a lot for the electronics/amp, which many report a problem with after a year or two. So I decided to go with an un-powered speaker and then by an inexpensive T-amp from China (@$60). There are lots of...- BobM

noise cancelling + music headphones for college student
Gotcha, I tend to agree with you. I've convinced her that closed cans would likely be just fine. Which would you recommend? Senn's HD280 Senn HD439 what else?- BobM

noise cancelling + music headphones for college student
Or even a set of closed cans that don't have active noise cancelling circuitry but do a pretty decent job of isolating the ears from exterior noise. Again, under $100- BobM

Looking for TV wireless headphones w/ independent volume control
My father in law is driving my mother in law crazy, because he can't hear the TV sufficiently at normal volume levels. She wants to get him a pair of headphones that are wireless, have an independent volume control (so he can play them as loud as he needs to), and can connect to the TV. ...- BobM

Does the USB port on a computer make a difference?
At the Audioquest presentation at the NYC show a month or so ago I thought I heard them say that using the "proper" USB port to connect your DAC can make a difference in the playback performance? Does it really matter which USB port on the computer is used? If so, then which one is best and...- BobM

M-Audio AV40 - still a good buy?
I've also been researching computer desktop powered monitors. I think I've decided on these over any of the others mentioned here. They seem to have all I am looking for but far better sound than the others from on-line reviews. Anyone here heard them? Emotiva Airmotiv 4S - $299 MSRP but...- BobM

I've been an Audiophile and music lover for more years than I care to remember. I've seen oodles and oodles of these threads. Here's the only truth that comes out of them: - nobody is really going to change their mind about what they believe - the "engineer" types are not going to try...- BobM
