Bought a Fiio Q1 ii, it's no better than my laptop?

Interesting observation! It seems to fly in the face of about 400 threads worth of enthusiastic recommendations for various $100 products on this site...but I hear that with my ears as well. Well, I guess if I extended my budget to $160-200, what does that get me? Ideally I'd like, at that price...

Bought a Fiio Q1 ii, it's no better than my laptop?

You may be right, it might be a power issue. It's just odd that the headphone out of my laptop has more juice than a dedicated headphone amp? I don't remember my iPhone 6+ having much trouble driving these phones either (though I've now got a sadly jack-less iPhone XS). I've heard the Atom is...

Bought a Fiio Q1 ii, it's no better than my laptop?

Hi folks, New poster here but longtime audiophile and audio professional (let's put it this way, I swapped the capacitors in the crossover of my Celestion home speaker for added transparency). Anyway, I wanted to improve the sound of my HiFiman HE4xx headphones which I'd been driving from the...

    Sub 130$ over ear headphone

People love the AT M50s but I am not one of them as I find them a bit "scooped" sounding (prominent bass, recessed midrange). You may find that very appealing for EDM or other bass heavy music. I'd suggest at least an audition first or try some of the others if midrange neutrality is important...

Good in-ear ear buds for less than $30

I too am looking for earbuds or at least IEMs that don't protrude very far at all into the ear canal. Are there really NO decent sounding options that have a mic? I'll look into the Yuins. I used to have an old pair of that brand (not sure which) and thought them at least pretty OK.

Seek <$100 ear buds... NOT in ear kind though

Update: Someone I spoke to on the plane the other day mentioned that the new Bose IEMs are much easier on the ears than traditional IEM monitors. He says the gel tips don't protrude that far inside your ear canal. Thoughts?

Seek <$100 ear buds... NOT in ear kind though

I'm an audio professional, new to this forum (hello!) seeking recommendations for ear buds... The kind that gently rest inside your ear without going into your ear canal much if at all. My ears go into insane wax creation mode if I insert stuff in my ears and get super sore. I'm noticing the...

Are you looking for ear buds? Or in ear monitor phones?

REV: Denon AH-C452 vs. head direct Re-0 vs. Skullcandy Titan

That's the thing... I don't think I'm a bass-head. I don't like boomy subwoofers or generally overhyped low end. I'll generally take tuneful bass over sheer bass weight any day. I will say that when traveling, or on a bus, you need a little bonus bass to sound balanced in all that ambient noise...

REV: Denon AH-C452 vs. head direct Re-0 vs. Skullcandy Titan

This review comes out of a frustrated purchase a couple of months ago of the Head Direct Re-0 headphones. I read rave review after rave review here. A steal at $200 people said, so it seemed a ridiculous bargain at the $79 I bought them for on sale. Read on to find out why I ended up switching...
