Thanks for all the info so far. Curious if the jdslabs atom or the liquid spark would make a minor or major audible difference over the Asgard 1 I currently run?

I always tend to go with Sony headphones due to them having more of a v shape sound ( which is what I like). I'm thinking of branching out though and thought the dt177x would be a good choice.

I use the Sound Blaster X-Fi HD as my DAC, not the Sound Blaster Ti-HD. I'm assuming though there isn't much of a difference between the two. So upgrading from the Asgard 1 to the Asgard 3 or even a different amp (jds labs atom, thx 887, or even a tub amp) wouldn't make much of a difference?

Thoughts between the MDR Z7M2 and the DT 177x.

It's at least 5 years since I have updated my headphone setup. My current setup is: Headphones - Sony H.ear on, Amp. - Schiit Asgard 1, DAC - Creative Sound Blaster x-fi HD. I am looking to spend around $600-$700. My listening preference is more on the fun side (U shaped) and not analytical...

With me going from a headphone with very little mid's to a headphone with mids is a difference that I need to get used to.

The glasses I wear are very similar in thickness.  The only issue I have is if I don't slightly slide my glasses down my nose and I put on my MD I can feel the plastic nose pads dig into my nose.  With me sliding them down they are lose enough that they slightly float above my nose when putting...
