    updating my setup

Thanks for all the info so far. Curious if the jdslabs atom or the liquid spark would make a minor or major audible difference over the Asgard 1 I currently run?

    Your favorite sub-$1,000 closed-back headphones?

I always tend to go with Sony headphones due to them having more of a v shape sound ( which is what I like). I'm thinking of branching out though and thought the dt177x would be a good choice.

    updating my setup

I use the Sound Blaster X-Fi HD as my DAC, not the Sound Blaster Ti-HD. I'm assuming though there isn't much of a difference between the two. So upgrading from the Asgard 1 to the Asgard 3 or even a different amp (jds labs atom, thx 887, or even a tub amp) wouldn't make much of a difference?

    Your favorite sub-$1,000 closed-back headphones?

Thoughts between the MDR Z7M2 and the DT 177x.

    updating my setup

It's at least 5 years since I have updated my headphone setup. My current setup is: Headphones - Sony H.ear on, Amp. - Schiit Asgard 1, DAC - Creative Sound Blaster x-fi HD. I am looking to spend around $600-$700. My listening preference is more on the fun side (U shaped) and not analytical...

Quote: Unfortunately I have a bad astigmatism so any tipping of my glasses up or down causes my vision to go out of focus.  I recon I'll have to try the bending method and if that doesn't work then my life is doomed, doomed I say.  There is no point in living, no point in breathing, no...

I just got some new glasses and I made sure that the arms sit flush with my face so the alpha pads will create a good seal (which they do).  The one thing I didn't think of were the curved part of the arms that go around your ear.  These glass arms stick out far enough past my ear in the...

With me going from a headphone with very little mid's to a headphone with mids is a difference that I need to get used to.

Quote:   Recommendations....   On another note,I noticed you have the Asgard 2.  How does this sound with the MD's.  I currently have the Asgard and have been wondering if it's worth the upgrade.

So I'm still in the trial period to see if the MD are a keeper.  The only area that I am struggling with are the Mids.  My current headphone is the D2000 so going from that to the MD is definitely an adjustment.  I feel that sometimes the mids blend the low's and high's together to sound like...

The glasses I wear are very similar in thickness.  The only issue I have is if I don't slightly slide my glasses down my nose and I put on my MD I can feel the plastic nose pads dig into my nose.  With me sliding them down they are lose enough that they slightly float above my nose when putting...
