recommendation for female vocals
Hmm, I do not think anyone mentioned Hayley Westenra. The first song on her most recent album actually gave me goosebumps, first time in a long time. -
ASL MG Head OTL MKII For Senn HD580's?
I absolutely love my MG Head MkII. It does a wonderful job with the Senn580. Another pro is the ability to tube swap. It has allowed me to fine tune the sound to my liking. There are plenty of online sources that describe which tubes do what best. The tubes are also fairly easy to come by. The...- Zealot261

Quick MG Head Question
I just have a quick question regarding the ASL MG Head. Will it hurt the amplifier if the headphones are unplugged will it is still on? I have no idea what the circuit topology is like in these guys so I wont try to guess. I know in buffered solid state amps its not good to unplug the...- Zealot261

Suggest a HD280 Pro Replacement
I also found with the HD280, the blue tak mod made a difference in the power of the bass. Im not sure if it was due to my expectation or the actual effect.- Zealot261

Rega Ear Dying?
I owned a rega ear for a little while, while I dont remember a burning smell, I do remember some of the components getting quite hot. I think it may be because of the amp's high power output. If the sound is still fine, it probably isnt something serious. It is possible though that a cap may...- Zealot261

warmest pleasing el 84 tube?
From my experience the mullards are fairly warm, almost syrupy. But, I think that would probably depend on the specific amplifier. If I am not mistaken, there were a few posts about tube recommendations. The only one I can remember was for the MG Head. Tube Recs Hope this helps.- Zealot261

Headphones and bicycles - a bad combination?
I tend to bike ride quite abit during the summer. Usually I wear MX500's or MX400 if I cant find the 500s. I have noticed that if you keep the volume at a safe level you can still hear cars coming up behind. I also have a nifty little rear view mirror, which I would also suggest if you are...- Zealot261

Die Moldau by Smetana. I have yet to find an intro more flowing or simple for that matter. -
MG Head Tube rolling frustration...
I will chime in on this one. So far I have gone through several tubes, but it seems that I have found my favorite. I have settled upon Hammond EL84 and Sylvania Gold 5751. I would say a close second to the current EL84's would be the westinghouse/admiral, but the Hammonds seem to give up some of...- Zealot261

Headphone Hair
I was just inspecting my hair after several hours of wearing my HD 580s and noticed I had a nice hair dent. I was wondering if anyone had their hair cut specifically to make wearing headphones more comfortable/cooler? It just really reminded me that I need a hair cut. The shorter the better...- Zealot261

Source and amp for my HD650.
In my experience, the Rega Ear does a decent job driving the HD580s. As far as the sound is concerned, there are a few mods that can tweak it a bit. The best is removing the stock opamp and replacing it with something sonically closer to your liking. The other, is upgrading the caps. Both made a...- Zealot261

May have found the prefect tube amp
It is indeed a good amp. I recently purchased one and I'm having a great time watching the purty glow tubes. I also have found that I rather enjoy the sound of tubes, being as this is my first tube amp. Be warned, this can become very addictive, especially the tube rolling.- Zealot261

Lisa Gerrard
I just picked up Duality and I must say, she simply has a stunning voice. Are there any other artists that are fairly close to her? Anyone else a fan, all I can say is that I am now. The range of her vocal expressions and control is unbelieveable. -
Major Noob Post (Phone Recommendations)
You might be able to find a used pair of Senn HD280 for sale. They are closed and are pretty good at blocking outside noise. There are also a few tricks you can do to them to optimize the sound. The work pretty well for classical, but they can be a tad bit hot and have a rather large...- Zealot261

SinglePower Amplifiers: Claims and Final Discussion
Ok, now I have pretty much read all of these threads pretaining to this fiasco. From a lurker's standpoint, this is just silly. Some of these arguements remind me of some of the highschool debates I used to judge. Remeber what is being discussed is someone's job or livelihood, lets not be rash...- Zealot261

A Choice of amps-HELP!
I only have had the opportunity to listen to the Ear. But I will tell you this, at first I wasnt too impressed by the sound. Then I upgraded the opamp and the supply caps, and it made a huge difference IMO. Currently I am using it with Senn HD580's and the Ear does a great job of driving them...- Zealot261

Opamp qualities
Update, Well I have tried several of the suggestions. Once I tried the AD8065, I had no desire to continue. The seemed to just fit right. On a side note, putting them on the adapter was a real pain. I have never had to tax my solder skills that much, and that did. But, it was worth it and I...- Zealot261

Opamp qualities
Come to think of it, I am pretty sure I have a 2227 around someplace. However, since the gain is set pertty high I might just try the 2228. From what I have listened to now with the HD580, the 627/637 are too dark, even though I really love the detail they provide. Thanks for the info.- Zealot261

Opamp qualities
Well this is my first post here, but I have been lurking for quite some time now. My first real question is this, what opamp has the same qualities as the AD8610 except isnt as bright? This is for my wonderful senn HD580s and so far I really enjoy the sound these guys give me from my rega...- Zealot261
