Anyone pulled the cover off of this to look at the make and model of the op-amps that are used?

    Iaudio 7/Sansa View/Iriver E100

The most substantion criticism of the i9 is the nonstandard USB attachment. But the YP-P3 has the same problem. Gomadic does have power adapters for the P3 and not the i9. I also don't care about expansion cards. My main music storage device is a 500 GB portable G-Tech hard drive. I'm...

    Iaudio 7/Sansa View/Iriver E100

Re-using my old thread. Changing the competition slightly. iAudio 9 replaces the iAudio 7. The Samsung YP-P3 is added to the competition. Samsung got on board with the FLAC club. Is the iAudio 9 still the best? I've noticed the reviews for the Sansa players aren't so good. And they are...

    AMP3 in-depth review (long)

Putting a class A amplifier on a portable audio device is a dumb idea. I'll be impressed when someone puts a Universal Class D amplifier on a PMP.

I'm curious about this, but could you be a little more explicit on the make and model of an "AMP3?"

Any significant difference in audio fidelity between those 3 players? Any other difference between the 3 upon which I should base my selection?

Best sounding flash player, price no issue

I care about WMA lossless because there's no car stereo head unit that supports FLAC. I want a lossless codec that is supported by both a portable music player and a head unit There are head units that support AAC and WMA, but it isn't clear that any lossless codec is supported by any head unit.

Best sounding flash player, price no issue

I'm going to make this a little harder, which of these players supports WMA lossless? Obviously, nothing but an Ipod supports Apple lossless. Do any of them support WMA 10 professional? (Mild interest, I supposed I might buy something from the Zune store in this format.) And I'm...

Best sounding flash player, price no issue

I am interested in the read/write speed because I want it to double as a flash drive. I will be using the UE11. They will be used primarily with my PC.

Best sounding flash player, price no issue

By best I mean unprocessed, no EQ sound. The only other requirements are that it have a direct USB connector, so iPod and Zune are right out even if they do sound superior. I will be using Ultimate Ears so output power doesn't matter. Speed of the flash memory is relevant. If the...

Best sound: iAudio v ipod nano v zune v blackberry

If Apple had obtained Verizon as their service provider as they had originally desired, the IPhone would be a no brainer. Unfortunately, Verizon spurned them. I figure I'll stick with my cheap phone and get an iaudio 7.

Best sound: iAudio v ipod nano v zune v blackberry

Price is not the issue. Convenience is the issue. The proliferation of portable electronic devices in the 21st century reminds me of the opening scene of "I'm Gonna get You Sucka" where someone has died of "OG" - too many gold chains.

Best sound: iAudio v ipod nano v zune v blackberry

I started this thread because I was thinking of getting a smartphone instead of a portable player (the only portable player I currently own is an old Sony CD player). I am a fan of high quality sound though I certainly wouldn't call myself an audiophile. Does using a Blackberry (a modern...

Comparison of Customer Service for Ultimate Ears and Westone Custom IEMs

I don't have any ue's but I have the es2 and I think that the es2's have overbearing midrange and weak high frequency extension, and I don't claim to have bat hearing. I compare the es2 to my Sony MDR-7506 headphones that I have had for a decade. I picked the es2 over the es10 because the...

I have done enough of my own research to narrow it down to theses two models. The reason that I don't assume that the UE-10 is superior is that the frequency response curve on Ultimate Ear's web site looks a little bass heavy. Also, in their description as to what music sounds best they...

DACs in Iriver portable CD players

I have received a testimonial from someone who has owned very many portable CD players that the iRiver players are in a class by their own sound quality wise. My question, do the players contain delta-sigma DACs instead of bitstream ones? This information is not available from iRiver's...
