I actually know acoustics well enough to know what constitutes good sound. However I'm interested in a headphone that will have to only reproduce bass. That's what it will literally be used for - listening only to low frequencies. It needs to do it well though. I wonder how the big round boys...

Thanks. I tried similar setup and didn't get a result like in the review though. Maybe the foam has different density or there is some more coverage on the holes inside the cup. Anyway I came up with a very good results by covering most of the vents inside and leaving the ones on your photos...

Hi, Glad you didn't throw your pair away :) If you measured the driver directly on it's terminals when they weren't soldered to the cables just yet, then you did it right. You could possibly cut the tiny wires from the coil when you were pulling the driver from the cup. 

Try them with shallow fit :)

Not sure what you mean by rebranded, but MJ900 are not a rebrand of Philips neither they are the same as MJ700/800 which sound open and have a flatter FR. I would argue whether Aweis are better then the last two.

they're similiar, midrangey earphones. A minature version of 700/800s. SQ is a tad lower, but still sound nice and clean.

Yes, by a notch. Rarely seen MJ710 is good as well. 900s sound agressive in comparison.

If I were you I'd crush the earpieces with a hammer, but keep that lovely cable.
