Headphones with drivers larger than 50mm?

I actually know acoustics well enough to know what constitutes good sound. However I'm interested in a headphone that will have to only reproduce bass. That's what it will literally be used for - listening only to low frequencies. It needs to do it well though. I wonder how the big round boys...

Headphones with drivers larger than 50mm?

Do any of these big dynamic drivers have particularly nice bass? I know they can dig deep, but do they resolve?

A mysterious problem with Sony MDR-XB700

Hi, I repair headphones daily and I had been used to fixing any problem by replacing a cable or a plug until I met this mystery... It's an XB700 with tough past. First broken, then vandalized by someone with no clue, then saved and heavily modified, with possibly the best cable, profesionally...

    aiaiai capital discussion thread

Thanks. I tried similar setup and didn't get a result like in the review though. Maybe the foam has different density or there is some more coverage on the holes inside the cup. Anyway I came up with a very good results by covering most of the vents inside and leaving the ones on your photos...

[Review] KAM HP1, an unknown headphone that rivals the HM5

Seems like KAMinstruments.com is down and HP1 might as well be not available anymore. I wonder what specs the drivers do have. They might have been be some OEM from ISK, for example HP-980, but with HP680 cups. I am very curious about that. If that gets sorted out we might gain a solid Hifi...

Aiaiai Tracks repair and possible mod?

Nothing comes to my head other then soldering another tiny wire to the part that's connected to the coil. Might be challenging.

Aiaiai Tracks repair and possible mod?

Hi, Glad you didn't throw your pair away :) If you measured the driver directly on it's terminals when they weren't soldered to the cables just yet, then you did it right. You could possibly cut the tiny wires from the coil when you were pulling the driver from the cup.

Compact Portable Headphone Roundup (16 Phones including PortaPro, PX-100 II, V-Jays, Tracks, K430, and more)

Do you think it might be bacause of the environment you use to listen to them in? I mean they're supraaural portables, so if you use them in noisy surroundings you'd need a low end hump to compensate for lost frequencies. Vjays are pretty flat for that matter. They sound like supposed more for...

I have a problem. I bought a pair of theese that was supposed to be missing some screws, but apparently it also lacks some damping material, because the sound is waay to bright. I was wondering if anyone can post pictures of their Aiaiais inside, or just tell me if the vents are covered (the...

    JBM earphones

Well, maybe I don't praise them as much as kickin81, but I like them and I perfectly understand why people have so much different opinions on them. The key is fit. They arent the kind of IEMs that require deep insertion. In fact that's what makes them muddy. They work only when you wear them a...

Compact Portable Headphone Roundup (16 Phones including PortaPro, PX-100 II, V-Jays, Tracks, K430, and more)

Lol, am I the only one who thinks that charts from this topic are somewhat upside down? I mean come on! PX100 best for their SQ? This thing has terribly muddy bass, super thin midrange and a complete lack of detail. It's good for their headband construction, but the cable is weak. I repair...

Aiaiai Tracks repair and possible mod?

This is how you do it: 1.Take the sponges off 2. take the driver out by cutting the glue with a knife and some prying     3 The rest you'll figure out yourself     Some tips: - The glue used in this case coesn't react to high temperatures. You need to cut through it...

    JBM earphones

Of course they aren't JBL, the are JBM, a complitely different company, which apparently makes itself look like western company. Although this isn't anything new (I'm looking on you, Superlux and Takstar). Not only that, their brochure is also a partial copy from Monster. That's the way Chinese...

    JBM earphones

Not sure what you mean by rebranded, but MJ900 are not a rebrand of Philips neither they are the same as MJ700/800 which sound open and have a flatter FR. I would argue whether Aweis are better then the last two.

    JBM earphones

they're similiar, midrangey earphones. A minature version of 700/800s. SQ is a tad lower, but still sound nice and clean.

Yes, by a notch. Rarely seen MJ710 is good as well. 900s sound agressive in comparison.

    Thing about CC51 rebrands

Hi, I noticed there was a bit of talk about CC51 rebrands, such as the Nakamichis. The conclusion was the rebrands carry some legacy over Meelectronics former flagship, but the sound is just all muffled. So I took an in-depth approach and described the problem on my...
