Quick X-Fi forte question
Does the upgraded opamp on the Auzentech X-Fi forte work with the headphone output jack? Would there be any point in replacing the opamp if the headphone output jack is being used? Thanks- redlinez33

First AMP, Airhead?
I bought a HD595 50ohm and enjoy them, but I enjoy them more when they are connected to my Denon receiver than when connected to my computer. I have an X-FI titanium sound card (play games once in a while), so I was thinking I probably need a AMP. I dont want to spend more than $100~ and was...- redlinez33

ATH-A500 vs ATH-A700 vs Beyerdynamic DT770 80
Ntropic I Was talking about open phones, the A700 are closed. The nice thing about the A700 for gaming is the largish sound stage (well largish for a closed phone).- redlinez33

ATH-A500 vs ATH-A700 vs Beyerdynamic DT770 80
Ya I am not exactly sure how open phones would work with a clip on mic. Would the mic pic up the noise from the headphones. Guess I never thought of that...- redlinez33

ATH-A500 vs ATH-A700 vs Beyerdynamic DT770 80
ATH-AD700 are open, but they very light on bass ATH-A700 (had as well) is good for gaming. Compared to ATH-AD700 it hasbetter bass but recessed mids. HD595 - Opened and I havent played a game with them yet. Initial impressions are they have a very warm sound to them. Bass is decent (better...- redlinez33

HD555's or A700's for Ipod?
If you like bass, avoid the ATH-AD700. I actually preferred (the only person on the forums probably) the ATH-A700. I have the HD595 and prefer these to ATH-AD700, and the HD555 from what I hear can be modded to be very similar in quality to the HD595... For this price range another option...- redlinez33

HD555 vs HD595 UNAMPED. Need opinions...
Well I finally got them yesterday. They have near 6hours on them. Very happy with them. Comfortable, very warm sound. I have a feeling they will be good for long listening hours. But I think I will also keep the ATH-m50 for when I feel like a energetic (not so laid back) phone. Finally done...- redlinez33

Closed Headphone $200
I had the SRH840 and the ATH-M50 at the same time. SRH840 have a very smooth, neutral sound. IMO though, they are boring and I am not a huge fan of its bass. I much prefer the lively sound of the ATH-M50. More and better bass, with lively sweet highs. If the ATH-M50 was the same price...- redlinez33

Open-Backed SRH840 Alternative
I have had the SRH840 and the AD700. The AD700 lacked low end. So I dont recommend if you want atleast SRH840 bass levels. I just got the HD595, initial impressions are better than the AD700 (HD595 = 80% more expensive).- redlinez33

Best isolation full size cans?
I have yet to hear a better noise isolating phone (especially under $100) than the HD280. The problem with the HD280 might be comfort. Another option might be the ATH-M50, not as good noise isolation but better comfort.- redlinez33

First Headphones for Casual Student
Would you consider your ears average in shape/size (or smaller)? If so the ATH-M50 are fine. For bigger ears you might find them uncomfortable. Buy them off ebay from an authorized reseller. They cost about $100. Btw there are TWO versions, one with a straight cable and one with coiled...- redlinez33

HFI-780 vs SRH840
I have never tried the HFI-780, but I am one who thinks the SRH840 is over rated. I think the SRH840 would be horrible for trance type music. The ATH-M50 would be better suited.- redlinez33

First Headphones for Casual Student
I believe a good phone for you and will save good bit of money is the Audio Technica ATH-M50. Good sound, good isolation, good comfort. Though I said good and not GREAT, they are about $100 and well worth the money. I doubt you will find much better (unamped) for under $200 that are closed...- redlinez33

ATH-M50 or AD700
The ATH-AD700 lack so much bass imo, its only really good with classical type music. I much much prefer the ATH-M50. Though it might have to much bass for you, it has a very energetic sound to it. The two things the ATH-AD700 are better at is Soundstage (both have good soundstage, but the...- redlinez33
