I love my new Grado SR225E's! But now I want a DAC or AMP to compliment it!

I think I'll do that, and I think I'll try out the AudioQuest Dragonfly on my MacBook at the local store. They let you demo it and even take it home, so I might as well compare.

How do these compare against DT770's?

I love my new Grado SR225E's! But now I want a DAC or AMP to compliment it!

Long story short, I finally got back into the HiFi (or, rather, budgetFi) game. (For those who care, here's my little Hi-Fi story. You can totally skip this paragraph.) Once upon a time ten years ago, I replaced my very first computer component all by myself: the sound card. 14-year-old self...

Nice Headphones -> Decent DAC -> Line-in Cable -> Logitech speaker console? -> X-Fi XtremeMusic?

I was just wondering if this is impeding my friend's sound quality. He's listening to AKG 702's connected to a Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1, which is connect by Line-In to this: http://www.revolutionpc.net/store/Logitech-X-540-Surround-Sound-Speakers.html through that little sound module you see...

    Open Headphones Better Than Closed?

My friend told me that open headphones are better than closed because closed headphones muddy down the highs and mids, no matter how well you produce the pair. He also claims that closed headphones color the sound whereas open headphones are better for analytical stuff. How much of this is true...

Not satisfied with Essence ST. Any DAC alternatives around same price?

Well, here's the run down: I want something below $250 that my AD700's will go into (eventually upgrading those, as well). I'd like them to sound more natural, warm, yet clarity is also on the high and a massive soundstage. I'd like to be able to pick up timbre clearly, and I'd like sweet highs...

Not satisfied with Essence ST. Any DAC alternatives around same price?

So I bought the ASUS Xonar Essence ST. It was an upgrade above my X-Fi XtremeMusic, but not huge. Then I got some OP Amps for $8 (LME49720NA's) which I'm really happy with, but still doesn't perform as well as I'd like it to. I was wondering if there are any DAC alternatives that would sound...

Leeperry, Currawong, ROBSCIX - Thanks a ton guys. You've pointed me in the right direction of good and useful information. I really appreciate it.

Give me a crash course in OPAMPS

Hello all, I just got the ASUS Xonar Essence ST, and I'm pleased with it, and along with my new AD700's, my musical world has been transformed. However, I'd like to be introduced to this new world of possibilities that I've been given by ASUS, the ability to easily swap OPAMPs without soldering...

    Upgrade from the ATH-AD700's?

So besides the bass, the DT990 isn't much of a difference from the AD700s?

    Upgrade from the ATH-AD700's?

What I fell in love with was the clarity, details, smoothness, expansiveness. I especially loved how the details I never heard came out.

    Upgrade from the ATH-AD700's?

Hello everybody. What would be the most logical step up from the AD700's - just enough of a step to get that "wow" factor without completely sinking the bank account. I listen to mostly electronic music (down-tempo, ambient, chill-out, trip-hop, folktronica, trance), classic rock, folk music...

Need a remote control to control PC from listening chair.

Hey there, I was wondering where or if I could get a remote control to control my music on my computer while sitting on the couch. If I could, that'd be great. Thanks!

What headphones should I get to get the most out of my Xonar Essence ST?

At the moment I have the AD700's , and the Xonar Essence ST is coming in the mail on Monday. I'm thinking, though, that the card is a bit overkill and that my headphones are the weakest link in the system. I'm thinking about upgrading to get the most out of my card so I can truly appreciate it...

Sennheiser HD595's vs Audio Technica ATH-A/AD700's

The only difference is the ohmz required to power the two drivers. The AD700 is 32ohmz, pushing out less bass than the A700. Also, they both have different wiring, but I'm not sure which is better.

Sennheiser HD595's vs Audio Technica ATH-A/AD700's

For now: an X-Fi XtremeMusic HOPEFULLY, by the end of the summer, a Xonar Essence STX and a Little Dot Micro MKII.

Sennheiser HD595's vs Audio Technica ATH-A/AD700's

I'm looking to buy a pair of headphones (obviously within this price range type of price range) that have a large sound stage, good bass, and good accuracy. I listen to rock, post-rock, acoustic/indie, downtempo, and chillout. I'm having trouble deciding between the HD595's and ATH-A700/AD700's.

Best soundcard for composing and listening to music? (SUB-$220)

I do not have an amp at the moment, but I'm thinking of picking up the little dot mark ii by the end of the summer.

Anything below $220, strict. I want to listen to the highest fidelity sound as possible, using my ATH-A700's.
