I'm looking to buy a pair of headphones (obviously within this price range type of price range) that have a large sound stage, good bass, and good accuracy. I listen to rock, post-rock, acoustic/indie, downtempo, and chillout. I'm having trouble deciding between the HD595's and ATH-A700/AD700's.

AD700 is amazing.
I think it'd still be better than the 595s, even thought they cost about twice as much. (do you mean the hd555s?)
but if you're into rock, I say go grado SR225 and an amp. they don't have a wide soundstage, but for rock, the are like, the best in that price range.
for the other stuff you listen too though, get the ad700s.

hd595s and ad700s are both good. 595s have slightly more bass and less sparkle while the ad700s are more crystalline in character but may lack bass for some people. They both have their faults. Pick your poison.

The only difference is the ohmz required to power the two drivers. The AD700 is 32ohmz, pushing out less bass than the A700. Also, they both have different wiring, but I'm not sure which is better.

Thank you!

Their sound is utterly different. The AD700 has forwards mids, great soundstage, great clarity and very linear highs (neither dark nor bright). And has a bit of Grado sound in them. The A700 has recessed mids, ok soundstage, a bit dark and terrible clarity. More bass than the AD700, but not a lot more, the ATH closed backs all have very polite bass. Sounds more like a Senn, a very poor man's HD650. In another words, the A700 sucks, the AD700 doesn't.

I really doubt you have heard the A700, I really do. Lately get the impression you claim to have heard every headphone under the sun, with your dogmatic opinions and statements.

How do the AKG K271's compare to the AD700's?

For that, wait until someone who has actually heard both of these headphones to make your decision.

But yes the AD700 is a decent headphone, you will likely enjoy them.

In what way am I wrong then?

And BTW, the HD595 sounds like the A700 with more highs and a touch better soundstage.

hd595 is nothing like the a900s which i compared. Ive heard that statement many times but it is BS. If the a700 is like the a900 in any way then it is not like the 595. 595s have a much leaner sound in the bass but warmer mids than the ATs. In fact, the a900s mids are pretty sucked out and the bass is booming! more than the hd600 bass by far!
